The Senior Mechanical Engineer, Digital Microscope is responsible for designing and analyzing mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging. The incumbent will conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs, as well as direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication. He or she will provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

This position reports to the Hardware Manager and is part of the Life Cycle Management team of Research & Development division located in Singapore and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Support engineering changes, kaizen & investigate design/quality issues.Interact with suppliers and operations for design & tooling fabrication.Support design review qualification process, verification & validation, PLM, BOM, and technical documentation.Participate in lean and continuous improvement initiatives and projects.Hands-on experience in the assembly of prototype modules and supporting root cause analysis.

The essential requirements of the job include

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in an R&D/manufacturing environment and at least 2 full product development cycles.Experience in metal and plastic parts (aluminium die casting, solid machining, extrusion, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, jig & fixture, and rapid prototyping).Exposure to PCBA, connectors, fasteners, EMI/EMC, wires/cables routing, and working knowledge of Mechanical CAD, 3D modelling (preferably in Creo 4 or IDEAS).General understanding of optical system design, high precision mechanisms, DFM and DFA concepts, including Poka Yoke, and prior working experience with industrial design, production process, sourcing, regulatory, and quality functions.Familiar with DFMEA & tolerance analysis stack-up calculations, good knowledge of mechanical drawings & dimensioning, including GD&T, basic CAE simulations (stress & thermal), Ansys or Creo Simulate skills and exposure to lifecycle/reliability tests and system integration.
 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Good project management skills are advantageousKnowledge of IE 4.0 and industrial automation advantageous
