Senior Marketing Manager, Cornerstone

Senior Marketing Manager, Cornerstone

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the award-winning, dynamic and collaborative marketing team within Cornerstone, Penguin Random House. We are looking for a creative, confident marketer with experience working in a fast-paced marketing team. This role will work across the list but with a particular focus on crime and thriller and managing some of our biggest repeat author brands.

About Cornerstone

Cornerstone is a division within the iconic publisher Penguin Random House, our home. In turn, Cornerstone is home to seven imprints: Century, Del Rey, Inklore, Evermore, Hutchinson Heinemann, #Merky Books, and Cornerstone Press, each with its own specific focus and remit. Every Cornerstone book also goes on to become a Penguin paperback.

Within publishing, Cornerstone has an enviable track record of bestsellers, prize winners and culture-shaping books, working with many of the world’s most interesting voices, often throughout their entire career. Our books span genres, categories and marketplaces globally.

The role

This role will create awareness of and engagement for Cornerstone books and authors in order to drive sales and build profiles. Working across new titles as well as catalogue books, including those with high level business priority, this role also includes brand management responsibilities for key authors.

The candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments and display excellent communication skills. You’ll react to sales data and opportunities in the market, communicate campaign performance whilst honing and adapting live campaigns to maximise sales. You’ll be highly organised, simultaneously working across multiple campaigns and delivering them on time and to budget.

Key responsibilities:

Devising year-round brand strategy for key Cornerstone authors – with a focus on crime and thriller publishing – commissioning audience insight and translating data into actionable strategy, identifying opportunities to grow brand awareness, hands-on channel management and excellent communication of plans and results to authors and agents. Briefing your list of talented designers and writing excellent copy to ensure you produce best-in-class, attention-grabbing campaign creative and consumer messaging across all your assets and marketing material. Closely working with our media agency to build well-targeted campaigns. You’ll need a strong awareness of digital advertising platforms, experience working effectively with freelancers, the ability to analyse campaign performance and share insights to inform both individual campaigns and team best practise. Being commercially minded, curious and inclusive in your approach. Bringing diversity of thought and innovation into the marketing team by looking outside the business for ideas and inspiration to share with the team and improve our work. Bringing together your experience with audience insight to provide feedback on acquisitions and leading on the creation of pitch documents for prospective authors. Devising content strategy for social channels in partnership with authors and public figures as well as for our imprints (with a focus on Century and Century Crime).

What you’ll bring:

Track record of producing standout marketing campaigns ideally within the publishing industry. Enthusiasm for working on both commercial and literary titles. Excellent knowledge of new media, audience trends and online communities. Highly organised with excellent time management in order to juggle concurrent campaigns. Great communication skills to be able to pitch ideas, report back to senior and external stakeholders and produce materials both internally and externally.

How to apply

Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 23:59 on Thursday 24th July. As part of your cover letter please tell us about a recent title campaign that you have admired for its effectiveness or creativity.

Salary

£42-£47k dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
