Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly numerate senior market forecaster/analyst with strong analytical, statistical and project management skills. Working as part of Informa Tech’s centralised Market Forecasting team, the primary role of the Senior Forecaster will be to manage the production and timely delivery of forecasts covering the Telecoms, Media and Technology Industry.

You will be an experienced forecaster with strong model building capabilities and will have a proven track record of compiling forecasts for bespoke/consulting projects. The successful candidate will have experience of presenting to senior level executives and be able to clearly demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively to both our internal and external customers.

In addition, the position demands that you can demonstrate initiative and a flexible yet organised approach to providing forecasts across a range of different industry segments and subject areas in response to changing market dynamics. As the role has a commercial element, successful candidates are also expected to be involved in delivering their expertise to clients through direct interaction in the form of presentations, seminars, or face-to-face meetings.

For this role candidates will be expected to:

 

Create, maintain and update custom built forecasting models for mobile, broadband and media sector.Support the Practice Leader with delivering bespoke projects and assist in developing the team strategy.Carry out research and provide detailed analysis of key metrics for trend analysis of market and technology developments.Work closely with analysts and researchers from other divisions as part of the forecasting and modelling process.Produce on time delivery of forecasts for key products.Undertake model development to assure quality and consistency of forecasts in the dynamic telecoms and media sector.Assist with business development from a forecasting perspective by attending client meetings and conference calls.

Qualifications

Essential

Proactive with excellent problem-solving skills to assure timely delivery of key high-quality forecasts.Proven track record of being able to communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation, express opinions clearly and challenge existing assumptions constructively.Able to demonstrate strong project management skills.Excellent research skills for ongoing analysis and understanding of industry trends and key strategic issues.Excellent attention to detail when assessing the reasonableness of forecasts.Highly numerate with a strong understanding of statisticsExcellent Microsoft Excel model-building skills including VBAStrong understanding and awareness of the influence of economic factors on market developmentExperience of delivering high quality bespoke projects for clients2.1 or higher in a business, economics, statistics or mathematics-based degree

Desirable

Knowledge of the TMT IndustryExperience of working with statistical software packages such as R, Python and business intelligence tools like Alteryx & Power BIAbility to supervise others.Masters degree in applicable subjectHighly literate to provide clear and concise written documents on key factors such as assumptions and methodologies.External presentation experience to both clients and at industry events
