We require someone to underwrite marine cargo business emanating from brokers. Maintaining and building relationships with our panel of brokers with a view to writing additional new business is key to the success of this role as well as growing the existing portfolio in line with our agreed growth, pricing and retention budget.
Your Responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:
Meet the portfolio product line objectives of the Marine Department for each underwriting year. Assist in formulating underwriting strategy, forecasts and portfolio management in order to achieve underwriting profitability. Business will emanate from various brokers and ceding companies. Travel the region with a view to promoting CHUBB and developing broker and cedant relationships Working closely with other lines of business to leverage Cross Sell opportunities. You will play a key role in the development of new business leads initiated by:- Meeting with the broker Account Director/Executive, or other broker contact, to negotiate the best price, terms and conditions for Chubb. Following up on the quote provided to the broker contact (including, by way of phone call or further meeting) to ensure Chubb successfully writes the piece of business. Being present at presentations, about Chubb and the quote, to brokers and/or clients. Maintaining our existing portfolio with the agreed targets for the year and developing and building a professional relationship with our clients. Demonstrating understanding that a good client relationship constitutes the 3 parts in the process (The client, the broker and Chubb). Meeting company standards relating to accuracy of policy documentation, premiums being debited on time, ie by the month end close, and compliance with regulatory standards in respect of contract certainty.What skills & experience are required?
Deep understanding and working knowledge of a marine line, the insurance and reinsurance market and competitors. Project Cargo underwriting skills would be a differentiator. Proven experience of dealing with brokers and clients. Results driven with ability work on own initiative. An expert underwriting professional with a strong reputation. Excellent planning, proactivity, using initiative and being a good communicator. Fluent in English (written and spoken)
