Senior Manufacturing Engineer

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Emerson, you will be a core member of a team dedicated to creating world-class manufacturing processes within the Actuation Technologies Business Unit.

 Based in our Houston, Texas facility, you will drive strategic improvements in discrete assembly and functional test operations—focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost effectiveness. Your work will directly impact operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and overall business performance.

This highly visible role provides the opportunity to collaborate multi-functionally with operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, and product development teams, while leading initiatives that leverage Lean tools, sophisticated problem-solving, and hands-on shop floor engagement.

  In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Own the design, development, and optimization of assembly and test processes for electro-mechanical product lines Establish and maintain standard work procedures, line balancing, takt time-based flow, and other lean systems to improve throughput and reduce variability Conduct time studies, capacity assessments, and ergonomic evaluations to improve work center performance and operator safety Champion and lead Kaizen and continuous improvement events, targeting waste elimination and cycle time reduction Partner with Design Engineering to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and ensure smooth new product introductions Design and implement jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve efficiency and product quality in low-volume, high-mix operations Implement and sustain 5S, visual management, and mistake-proofing systems across the manufacturing floor Support root cause investigations for production issues and implement robust corrective actions Identify and support capital investments and process changes through data-driven return on investment analysis Promote and support a culture of continuous learning and employee development around Lean Manufacturing principles Who You Are: You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.   For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in discrete manufacturing, with a focus on assembly and test operations Strong background in Lean Manufacturing with practical experience applying tools such as standard work, value stream mapping, and visual management Proficiency in engineering tools including AutoCAD, SolidWorks/Inventor, and Microsoft Office Suite Proven ability to lead improvement projects and drive measurable results Strong mechanical proficiency with hands-on experience supporting factory operations Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification  Our Culture & Commitment to You:
