SENIOR MANAGING DIRECTOR

Responsible for oversight and management of a Wealth Advisory group with consolidated annual revenues equal to or exceeding a level determined by the Business Unit President. This may include emerging or growth markets.

Oversees provision of client services related to investment management, trust and estate planning, private and/or business banking, and financial planning, inclusive of wealth transfer and philanthropic strategies.

Provides leadership and guidance to managers and employees. Holds overall accountability for performance management, business development and career development programs.

Leads from extensive business experience /knowledge and broad functional expertise. Focuses on proactive strategic leadership.

Major Duties:

Oversees, plans and directs all activities for the team. Communicates overall strategy to reporting managers and employees.Responsible for upholding corporate policies and procedures. Develops objectives and strategic plans for location or market that meet Business Unit and Corporate objectives. Directs activities of the team toward accomplishing those objectives.Oversees development and monitoring of business growth, and pricing of products and services. Responsible for capital and expense budgets.Oversees client interactions and communications. Monitors retention of current clients and broadening of relationships. May address specific sensitive or complex client needs.Identifies and researches potential for community or market expansion. Develops sales goals for new business. Oversees communication strategies and identification of prospective clients/business. Participates in sales presentations. Investigates strategic opportunities for acquisition or expansion.
 

Knowledge:

Leadership and organizational skills to determine goals, resource needs, and to assess and develop the skills of staff. Capable to direct the activities for multiple units.Knowledge of business strategy development provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment.Externally focused with experience in networking and driving growth

The successful candidate will benefit from having the following competencies:

A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required/preferred.Related Industry qualification required / preferred.

Salary Range:

$205,700 - 360,100 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
