Ankura Turnaround & Restructuring Senior Managing Director Role Overview

The Turnaround & Restructuring (T&R) Senior Managing Director role is an executive level position that sells, leads and manages complex restructuring client engagement(s). The successful candidate will be a "person of stature" and self-sustaining rainmaker who generates $3 - $5 million+ annually and may personally bill in the $900+ / hour range. The candidate will possess a strong personal brand within Restructuring & Turnaround advisory and deep market-making relationships across the relevant law firms, investment banks, corporates etc. resulting in a robust flow of inbound calls and bookings. The candidate will be a hands-on, passionate consulting executive who will work with team members in developing and executing on key account plans, nurturing executive level client relationships of the most strategic accounts, and achieving revenue targets. The successful candidate must be a commercial leader able to drive revenue growth and capture market share.

Responsibilities

Initiates and converts business opportunities and collaborates with other Senior Managing Directors to sell and deliver engagements that generate $3 - $5 million+ annuallyProvides guidance to the Ankura team and Client regarding analytical approach and methodologiesSets expectations with client and other constituencies related to analytical capabilitiesManages multiple complex initiatives and analyzes the outlook of restructuring concepts and agreementsActs as a key facilitator of the restructuring process with various constituenciesOversees work across multiple engagementsEffectively works with client and engagement team to set expectations regarding timelines which satisfy client needs and are achievable with the resources available to the engagement teamEngages with key constituencies as part of drafting report to ensure approach is consistent with external expectationsProvide guidance to team(s) as to overall communication strategy, argument structure, and key messagingEstablishes and maintains relationship with most senior client executivesProvides engagement leadership to Ankura team and Client

Requirements:

Minimum 20+ years of relevant restructuring / distressed experienceMinimum 10+ years of professional services experienceThe successful candidate must be a commercial leader able to drive revenue growth and capture market shareA successful track record of generating $3 - $5 million+ annually and personally billing in the $900+ / hour rangeThe candidate will possess a strong personal brand within Restructuring & Turnaround advisory and deep market-making relationships across the relevant law firms, investment banks, corporates etc. resulting in a robust flow of inbound calls and bookingsAn undergraduate degree from a top academic institution; advanced degree(s) and applicable professional certification(s) are preferred (CFA, CIRA, CPA)Expertise defining, influencing and driving change at executive levels and across the broader community of stakeholdersExceptional negotiation skills with complex/sophisticated situations involving executive and board level stakeholdersAble to develop credible recommendations under shortened time constraints and imperfect informationHigh energy style, flexible and adaptive, with the ability to work well in a very fast paced environmentAbility to adapt to complex client environments and situationsProven track record of effectively planning for and proactively mitigating risks on engagementsPrior hands-on experience building / developing / overseeing integrated 3-statement financial and 13-week cash flow modelsQuickly recognizes critical areas requiring analysis and review while understanding the big pictureExperience synthesizing complex unstructured information rapidly and applies good business judgment driving quickly to deep insights into possible impacts and solutionsExpert written communication skills, self-directed with preparation of client ready document and presentation developmentArticulate, persuasive, communicator who is adept at handling executive and difficult audiences well including ability to adapt style to audience
