Senior Manager Trade Compliance (REMOTE)

In return, we'll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. **Job Summary** The Sr. Manager, Global Trade Compliance, will provide trade and Customs support to CRL's global business units. In this role you will report directly to the Director of Global Trade Compliance and will oversee the day-to-day management of the Customs clearance process in the US and Canada. You will support the various businesses in adhering to global worldwide trade compliance policies and governmental regulations and laws impacting imports and exports. The Global Trade Compliance team ensures that CRL's transactions satisfy regulatory requirements to file complete and accurate export and import declarations with local customs and other government authorities for international shipments. They are responsible for procedures for assigning and reporting correct and accurate import and export classifications, customs values, and country of origin. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manage the Compliance team's administration of US and Canada HTS classifications, tariff applicability, origin determination, and all participating government agency requirements (i.e. FDA, USDA/APHIS, FWS, CDC, EPA) * Oversee the Post Entry review process for US and Canada importations and facilitate post summary adjustments * Proactively monitor all daily activities of Customs brokers and respond to inquiries * Communicate with CBP and CBSA, Customs brokers, PGA's, and other stakeholders to facilitate release of shipments * Responsible for qualification of free trade agreement claims (i.e. USMCA) * Conduct QBR's with Customs brokers to evaluate quality of services provided, review trends, and identify continuous improvement opportunities. * Train, motivate, and mentor compliance and site shipping teams to achieve compliance goals and objectives * Review and analyze existing business practices, procedures, and processes with goal of establishing benchmarks and standards * Identify improvement opportunities to existing business processes and service levels and gain efficiencies * Work closely with all business units to understand their specific needs and the materials which are being imported and exported * Monitor regional and global Customs and Trade Compliance Regulatory Changes * Maintain import and export records to ensure company compliance with Customs regulations * Assist with restricted party screening and ensure export control compliance * Creation and maintenance of SOPs and supporting documents * Perform all other related duties as assigned Skills: o Ability to work remotely as part of a team o Fluency in English is a must. Any additional language is a plus o Strong written and oral communication skills in English to be able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms o Good working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook; MS Excel, MS PowerPoint o Demonstrated experience using and potentially optimizing a Global Trade Management System (GTMS) o Experienced ACE and CARM user o Strong attention to details o Ability to quickly analyze, document, and defend subjective matter o Decision making aptitudes based on given guidelines and in ambiguous contexts o Must be comfortable working with diverse business units o Very good knowledge and experience in internet navigation and research o Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others through demonstrated expertise o Agile thinking mindset **Job Qualifications** * 7 - 10 years of relevant working experience, within Customs and Trade Compliance, preferably in the pharmaceutical or bioscience industries * Solid understanding of Customs and trade compliance for import and export * Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously with strong organizational and prioritization skills * Licensed Customhouse Broker (LCB) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) preferred * University degree * Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements. Compensation Data The pay range for this position is $120K - 140K USD annually.
