About Enterprise Architecture:
Enterprise Architecture is an organization within the Chief Technology Office at American Express and it is a key enabler of the company’s technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include:
1. Architecture as Code: this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise.
2. Architecture as Design: this pillar includes the solution and technical design for transformation programs and business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support.
3. Governance: this pillar is responsible for defining technical standards, and developing innovative tools that automate controls to ensure compliance.
4. Colleague Enablement: this pillar is focused on colleague development, recognition, training, and enterprise outreach.
Organization Context:
Secure File Transfer (SFT) is AXP’s core highly available platform managing secure, reliable file exchanges and movement of business-critical data between American Express and its customers & partners. SFT is the enterprise standard and strategic solution for file transfers delivering a critical set of capabilities to our business and its customers, which is at the very core of nearly all business processes in the company today.
Some of the key traits we are looking for: deep technical engineering expertise, wide distributed systems and applications knowledge, proven experience with engineering and supporting an enterprise-wide high availability platform; set, drive and deliver technical goals, make bold decision making and have the tenacity to deliver on the vision. The candidate demonstrates clear examples of experience in all aspects of managing, designing, engineering and operationally maintaining a critical “always on” application platform.
Ideally this candidate would have experience building such applications in their career history while demonstrating proficiency, proven expertise and strong knowledge of the managed file transfer (MFT) domain with few or more of the following skills.
Responsibilities:
· Lead business and security enablement team and support world class business solutions to enable business teams
· Ability to comprehend and recommend solutions and best practices to business, information
· Ensures their security and technical delivery teams
· Guide a group of engineers on industry best practices for solution delivery, design and development
· Delivering software solutions that meet or exceed customer and partner expectations by developing and driving innovation and experimentation within Technology
· Able to share technology domain expertise with architects and other specialists across multiple organizations
· Empower teams to succeed at scale
· Cultivate an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
· Responsible for the people management of a co-located and remote engineers
· Ensure team contributes to company standards. Coach, guide and promote creation of high quality, clearly documented, and compliant deliverables across teams.
· Work with business partners, product team and service delivery engineers closely to understand the product and customer needs; and enable the product and customer vision for the company. Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders within business and technology teams to prioritize, plan, and execute the schedule for major product releases.
· Manage Tech OKRs and strive to continuously improve the metrics month over month.
· Drive innovation within a fast-paced agile environment
Qualifications
Education & Experience
5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred Extensive hands-on experience building and being responsible for the development of complex, large scale enterprise applications and products that require a deep understanding of application logic and dependencies Experience with Scrum, Kanban, or another Agile application development methodology Ability to build and use positive relationships with your team, business and technology partners Deep knowledge of front end, middleware and backend technologies relevant to your team’s domain Expert in leading industry file transfer protocols such as AS2, FTP(s), SFTP, HTTPs Direct Expertise in cryptography algorithms for encryption and decryption based on X509, PGP, compression, decompression, ASCII to EBCDIC and EBCDIC to ASCII Expert in one of application deployment automation tools such as Chef, IO, Puppet RFC standards and systems security Linux, TCPIP networking, firewalls, load balancers, databases and Java based applications Knowledgeable in shell scripting Proficient with providing business process consulting, integration solutions for file/API gateways while adhering to AXP enterprise governance and security standardsWe back you with benefits that support your holistic well-being so you can be and deliver your best.
