**Job Summary:**
The Occupational Health Physician is responsible for the leadership, direction, and execution of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) services across Affiliate Abbott Pakistan. The occupational Health will ensure the establishment, implementation, and continuous improvement of occupational health programs in compliance with Abbott’s Global Occupational Health Standards (GOHS) and local regulations. The role requires clinical expertise, strong leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to promote the health, safety, and productivity of employees.
**Major Responsibilities:**
+ Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive occupational health system aligned with Abbott’s GOHS and local legal requirements
+ Ensure alignment of all OHS activities with Abbott’s corporate values and GOHS policies
+ Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical examinations and provide direct medical care and emergency medical response within the workplace setting
+ Manage work-related injuries and illnesses, coordinate with external providers where necessary and Maintain confidentiality and ethical medical practices in all patient interactions
+ Develop and maintain health surveillance and monitoring programs, particularly for workers exposed to physical, chemical, biological, or ergonomic hazards
+ Oversee fitness-to-work assessments, medical surveillance screening, annual medical checkups.
+ Design and implement health promotion programs aimed at educating workers about occupational health and safety practices
+ Conduct employees' health & wellness awareness programs, training sessions, and workshops
+ Collaborate with all stake holders and department heads to develop return-to-work plans and rehabilitation programs
+ Develop a database of Abbott employee work related injuries and illnesses and work with Head of HF & Ohs to develop an injury minimization action plan
+ Responsible for reporting any accidents to local and regional authorities in a timely manner and Incident and accident reporting format and developed reporting system
+ Provide recommendations for workplace accommodations and modifications to support employees with disabilities
+ Communicate with CFS- Pay role & insurance companies regarding employee’s disability compensation claims
+ Perform health risk assessments and recommend modifications to minimize health risks and Conduct workplace inspections and provide guidance on occupational health matters
+ Provide medical input into risk mitigation strategies, PPE usage, and safe work practices and the development of Emergency Response Plans, including First Aid & disasters preparedness
+ Train first aiders, supervisors, and employees on occupational health issues and provide continuous education to the OHS team and site personnel on emerging health risks and regulatory changes
+ Act as a health mentor within the company, promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing.
+ Monitor and analyze occupational health data to identify trends and suggest preventive measures and prepare regular reports on health performance indicators
**Education/Knowledge & Experience:**
+ MBBS ; preferably with master’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
+ Minimum 5–7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or manufacturing sector
+ Professional certification i-e NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP is highly desirable
+ Knowledge of Risk Assessment & Management
+ Clinical Judgment & Decision-Making skills
+ Knowledge of Regulatory & Legal Compliance
