About the Role
To lead and support underwriting transformation initiatives across the allocated business units, focusing on automation, rule engine enhancement, and leveraging data and AI to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Simplify underwriting processes and enhance customer experience by improving rules, leveraging data, analytics, and innovation to reduce medical evidence requirements and increase new business take-up rates
Improve rule precision and reduce manual referrals using analytics and historical data insights. Support the development and governance of core underwriting rules and standards
Provide subject matter expertise (SME) for straight-through processing (STP) automation and operational efficiency projects. Guide business units in adopting new technologies and digital capabilities.
Contribute to reinsurance strategy and maintain regional reinsurance relationships
Work closely with Claims, Risk, and other technical functions to ensure alignment and integration of underwriting strategies
Promote professional development within the Underwriting Community of Practice. Monitor and support business units in achieving operational targets and improving existing processes.
Guide business units in adopting new underwriting technologies and digital capabilities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
Apply strong data analytics and visualization skills to generate insights, support decision-making, and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
Partner with allocated business units to identify, track, and implement operational use cases that improve underwriting efficiency and overall process performance.
Work independently to drive allocated buy projects applying strong project management skills and collaborate for end-to-end closure of the projects.
Job Requirements:
University graduate, preferred medical graduate
10 years of relevant experience as an underwriter within the Life Insurance or Reinsurance Industry
Regional experience, preferred
Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience required
Strong data analytics and presentation skills
Strong project management skills
