The Maumee Fluid Conveyance Test Lab Manager position, reporting to Juergen Schmidt (FC Divisional Engineering Lead) is a blend of both local and global Lab manager responsibilities.   Locally the Maumee Lab Manager is fully responsible for the operation of the Maumee Lab in support of Global FC Testing needs.  Globally the Maumee Lab manager is responsible for establishing standardized policy to ensure all Global FC Test Labs operate in a similar manner and produce consistent results regardless of where the product is tested.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Responsible for day to day operations of the Maumee Test Lab to support global testing needs for all Fluid Conveyance Business Units (RHHF, Specialty, Private Label) Responsible for the management and growth of Maumee Lab personnel through the use of goals, development plans, training, succession planning, strategic planning.   This includes personnel in support of Quality, SEH, Machine Design, Maintenance, Electronics Control and Data Acquisition, Test Lab Engineering and three shifts of Lab Technicians Responsible for developing both a Maumee and Global lab strategy that supports near and long term needs of the Fluid Conveyance business from both equipment and personnel standpoints. Responsible for managing Maumee site capital identification and implementation. Globally responsible for understanding all FC sites test equipment capabilities and making strategic decisions on what testing resources are need at what sites around the world for all BU’s.   This includes leading the Global Engineering Capital meeting and ensuring a unified approach to prioritize, justify and gain BU Leadership’s support of Engineering capital needs. Globally responsible as the Teamcenter Test Container system FC owner.   This includes driving Global FC policies and practices, developing and providing training, driving improvements in the system, and being a system “superuser” Globally responsible to ensure like equipment at test sites around the FC world produce the same results. Globally responsible to review new lab equipment specifications and manufacturers to ensure the company is making the best purchase decisions and that the equipment will meet the desired performance requirements Less than 10% of travel required both domestic and international on an annual basis.  It may be slightly heavier in the first year to get familiarity of all the test sites and lab personnel. What We're Looking For

Required (basic) qualifications

Must be familiar with Hydraulic and Fluid Conveyance products Must be experienced in design and development of products and test methods Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering

 

Preferred qualifications

Masters degree in Engineering or Business preferred Basic hydraulics systems knowledge Familiarity with testing workflow systems and more specifically a working knowledge of Teamcenter Test Containers DFSS or DMAIC Greenbelt

 

Job Criteria

Hours required must overlap all three shifts to ensure face to face time with all shift personnel.  Ideally that would be from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM with a 1 hour lunch break. Must be available for off hours emergency needs Must engage and provide leadership to the Safety, Environmental and Health role Manages lab budget and purchase approvals Action oriented, not fearful of acting with minimum of planning and seizes opportunities Trusted and can present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate manner, keeps confidence and does not blame others Sets policies, knows the customers and is strategic minded Can see underlying problems and patterns, looks beyond the obvious What You'll Get from Us
