Position: Senior Manager Financial Operations Entity: Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania (CPUP) Department: Radiation Oncology Location: 3400 Spruce St. Hours: Full Time, per departmental needs Summary: Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, Department of Radiation Oncology, this individual manages a staff of 3: Senior Financial Analyst, Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant. The Senior Financial Manager is responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual financial operation activities of CPUP and Hospital Entities which include monthly financial statement preparation, reconciliation of inter entity transfers, development of the annual budget, allocation of central expenses to divisions, and management of the cash and accounts payable functions. This position is the primary liaison with Entity operations team while providing financial information and support. This position is also responsible for the development of monthly financial information which is communicated to CPUP and UPHS leadership. Incumbent will play an active role in multiyear funds flow renewal and related MBPL reporting. The scope also includes working with University Liaisons in developing funding strategies. Responsibilities: + Oversees monthly financial reporting and variance processes for the department. This includes review of department, divisional, and physician level income statements and department balance sheet. Also oversees all physician level snapshots which include New Start and Vizient quarterly reporting. + Manages the month end close of the department from a CPUP and Hospital perspective. Provides variance explanations to stakeholders. + Perform key financial planning services include results reporting, performance analysis, program evaluation, forecasting, and modeling while promoting effective and efficient controls. Manages the production and distribution of monthly financial reports. + Responsible for monthly incentive compensation accrual calculations. + Responsible for managing the daily activities of the Finance Staff. This position is responsible for hiring and evaluating personnel, staff development, training, performance reviews, scheduling and delegation of workload. + Development of MBPLs and Effort Reports for compliance with new Effort Guidelines. + Serves as a point person for our affiliates. Reconciles invoices (OOR in excess of $9 million) and payments on a monthly basis. + Manage the finances of our PRMI and Oncolink departments, while communicating with stakeholders in monthly meetings. + Preparation of annual operating budgets and current year projection. This includes working with Hyperion Planning. Provide information to the COO, CFO and Department leadership in the development and implementation of operating budgets. Centrally manage all Hyperion budget reporting/rollup/balancing. + Work with University team on developing strategies using PSOM funding sources. + AD-Hoc analysis as needed from leadership. + Managing miscellaneous accounts receivable, accounts payable and purchasing functions. Authorize all purchase orders and check requests. Complete authorization for substantial purchase orders or check requests per department guidelines. + Oversee Hospital accounting; manages accruals, FTE analysis and contracts related to services and equipment. + Work in partnership with Data Analytics team on related tasks that may be assigned. + Other Duties as assigned. Education or Equivalent Experience: + Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline Required. + 6+ years progressive experience in general accounting and/or budgeting is required; health system or an academic medical center related experience preferred. + Master of Arts or Science Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline Preferred. Skills & Abilities: + FINANCE: Experience with health care cost accounting and decision support software. + COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff. + OPERATIONS: Ability to lead/manage others in a matrixed environment. + COMMUNICATION: Demonstrated consultative, team building, and group facilitative skills. + COMMUNICATION: Ability to work effectively with a range of business, clinical, and academic leaders. + Effectively and appropriately manage confidential information. + Strong commitment to the vision of Penn Medicine. + Ability to comprehend the financial drivers of all aspects of the organization (clinical, research and education) and reconcile them to the best overall interest of the organization. + Client service orientation. + Strong communication skills.
