Senior Manager - Engineering

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Manager – IKC Engineering will lead a cross-functional matrix organization of engineers with the goal to sustain engineering excellence in the Fleet Engineering organization. This leader will be required to effectively manage an assigned group of India-based engineers (with varying engineering skills and disciplines) to meet all team deliverables and business objectives.

This Senior Manager will perform direct supervisory functions for an assigned group of engineers, which may include technical review and oversight. This role will require close collaboration with the Fleet Engineering leadership team to ensure seamless integration across the various engineering disciplines (Avionics, Components, Structures and Systems).

Travel: 10-20% (primarily travel to USA)

Mentor and develop direct report engineers to grow their talent, technical expertise, and skill levelAs needed, lead hiring efforts of new India-based Fleet engineersManage direct reports through an effective performance review process that maximizes productivity, professional growth, inclusivity and employee engagementOrganize and manage the priorities for assigned responsibilities for a technical team of engineers of varying disciplines (Avionics, Components, Structures, and Systems)As required in a matrix organization, interface regularly with Fleet Engineering leadership team to ensure alignment of priorities and assigned work of IKC Fleet Engineering teamInterface with external stakeholders which includes, but is not limited to, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), third party suppliers, outside vendors, and industry committeesIdentify and champion process improvement opportunities which includes metric development, workload leveling (resource allocation), and change managementThe Senior Manager would be required to drive innovation and effectiveness of the IKC Fleet Engineering teamAs necessary, complete technical reviews of engineering documents generated by other team memberPerform other administrative duties such as expense report approvals, employee work schedule, employee time tracking, and IKC “focus week” management

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical discipline2 years of management experience, 8 years of engineering experiencePast working knowledge of both Airbus and Boeing aircraftAbility to manage/support multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to lead process designStrong problem-solving skills and ability to influence others toward desired outcomeAbility to drive changeStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact at all levels (including executive) and team with all internal and external business partnersMust be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorshipMust be fluent in English (written and spoken)Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
