Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Manager of EA Material Planning holds full strategic and operational ownership of material readiness across United’s aircraft modification programs (Engineering Authorizations, or EAs). This leader is accountable for driving cross-functional supply chain initiatives that enable seamless execution of modification schedules, ensuring material availability is never a constraint to operational success.

As a key leader within the Supply Chain organization, the Senior Manager defines the long-term vision, builds scalable processes, and delivers actionable insights that improve material planning accuracy, mitigate risk, and drive continuous improvement. The Senior Manager coordinates closely with their counterparts inside the supply chain to communicate project specifications, evaluate how supply chain processes can support the EA project plan, and make recommendations to ensure maximum alignment of supply chain delivery with aircraft modification schedule. This role collaborates across Engineering, Planning, Maintenance, and Procurement to align supply chain performance with enterprise-level modification strategies and reports directly to senior leadership on key program metrics, risks, and mitigation efforts.

Strategic Leadership Vision:Define and execute the strategic roadmap for EA Material Planning to ensure proactive, scalable, and risk-mitigated material readiness across all aircraft modification programsDrive team alignment around strategic goals by setting clear objectives, defining success metrics, and leading organizational change initiativesLead a team of Material Analysts by fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovationBusiness Ownership Performance Management:Take full ownership of material planning performance across all EAs, with end-to-end accountability for supply readiness in alignment with modification timelinesEstablish and manage KPIs and service-level targets that inform strategic decisions and enable effective prioritization and monitoring of the material health of all EAsLead structured business reviews with executive stakeholders to communicate progress, highlight risks, and propose data-driven mitigation strategiesProcess Optimization Continuous Improvement:Identify systemic issues and lead initiatives to optimize forecasting, planning, and fulfillment processes, including implementation of digital workload tools and analytics dashboards that enable team members to work more efficiently and eliminate material shortagesLeverage root cause analysis and exception management practices to proactively address delays, shortages, or misaligned planning inputs that put EA material plans at riskLead development of contingency plans to mitigate potential risks to Supply Chain timelinesAct as escalation champion to provide leadership and direction in addressing potential roadblocks to timely project completionDrive cross-functional process standardization and automation to enable scalability and efficiencyCross-Functional Leadership Stakeholder Engagement:Serve as the single point of accountability for all EA-related material planning efforts, leading collaboration with Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, and Program Planning.Influence cross-functional decision-making by aligning supply chain readiness with broader program milestones and customer requirementsMaintain strong relationships with internal customers and serve as an advocate for operational excellence in supply chain supportExecutive Communication Program Reporting:Develop and deliver concise, high-impact reports and presentations for senior leadership that communicate material health status, risks, and strategic recommendations across priority projectsTranslate complex supply chain data into executive-level insights that support decision-making and investment prioritizationProvide routine updates to senior stakeholders on key initiatives, incorporating feedback and driving alignment across business functionsAct as the Supply Chain focal for all EA related work

Bachelors degree in business, technical field, aviation or related discipline or 4 years of relevant work experience5 years experience in fields of the Supply Chain, Airline, Manufacturing, or other technical or scientific field2 years leadership experienceComprehensive understanding of Supply Chain operations and ManagementStrong Leadership, coaching and communication skillsExperience in project managing a number of large projects with varying prioritization and completion datesSelf-Motivated Engrained Continuous Improvement experienceUp to 20% travelMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
