What is the opportunity?
The Manager- Canadian Due Diligence leads and manages the traditional Global Manager Research (GMR) team based in Canada. This important role leads relationship and stakeholder management of key businesses in Canada that rely on GMR insight and guidance. The role is also a key function in assisting advisors in business development efforts with strategic opportunities and ultra-high-net-worth client engagements. The position is a key leadership role with the 30-person GMR team consisting of investment professionals based in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Asia which supports an asset base over $650 billion USD.
What will you do?
The position is a key leadership role on the GMR team and includes the following accountabilities:
Management of the Canadian-based members of GMRLeading relationship and stakeholder management of key businesses that rely on GMR insight and guidance including RBC Dominion Securities, RBC Global Asset Management, PH&N Investment Counsel, and RBC Personal and Commercial BankingAssisting advisors in business development efforts with ultra-high-net-worth clients through presentations, in-person meetings, audio and video interactions and other engagementsFostering strong cross-border collaboration amongst the four GMR teams and its key stakeholdersAssuming a leading and active role on various investment committees, including providing ideas, insight and investment recommendationsActing as an expert and spokesperson for important and highly visible business development opportunities and other speaking engagements, including important recruiting, client, and investment committee meetingsMentoring, coaching and developing staff to enhance research capabilities across the teamWhat do you need to succeed?
Must haves:
Generally, 10 years or more of experience conducting research and due diligence on investment managers or other investment related experienceDeep understanding of key investment products and concepts including manager research, portfolio management, investment strategy (asset allocation) and investment structures (i.e. mutual funds, managed accounts or limited partnerships)Ability to build and foster strategic relationships with key partners in various geographiesDemonstrated ability to lead by example and operate at a high level with little oversight and direction from other colleaguesProven skill in delivering credible presentations and recommendations to a variety of audiencesAdvanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skillsNice-to-have:
Demonstrated ability to lead, managed, and develop a high-performing investment teamCFA/CAIA designation and/or advanced educational degreesUndergraduate degree in business (with a preferred focus in finance, accounting, economics, math, or statistics)What’s in it for you?
