Team Lead - Switchyard Systems Protection, Protection Audits, Systems Studies
Engineering Review and Finalization:
Review engineering schemes related to the switchyard, ensuring they meet technical and operational standards.
Finalize engineering schemes after thorough review, making necessary adjustments and optimizations.
Collaborate with the Quality department to assist in quality inspections of the finalized schemes, ensuring they adhere to required standards.
Project Support:
Provide detailed technical specifications to the engineering team to ensure proper equipment sizing and compatibility with system requirements.
Support the tendering process by addressing technical queries during discussions and conducting comprehensive technical evaluations of potential vendors.
Review submitted schemes from Adani's side after contract awards, ensuring they align with project goals and standards.
Oversee the entire product preparation process, ensuring all technical requirements and specifications are met.
Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) to verify that the product meets all operational and safety standards before deployment.
Witness the commissioning of products at the site, ensuring proper installation, integration, and functionality.
Provide technical support to the project team during the commissioning of protection systems, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly.
Assist in the system charging process, verifying that all protection systems are operational and meet regulatory standards.
Review commissioning documents required for regulatory approvals, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and submit them to the appropriate authorities.
OEM and Maintenance Support:
Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to evaluate potential failure points and their impacts on the system.
Provide technical recommendations and corrective actions from an electrical system perspective to address identified issues.
Support Annual Overhaul (AOH) and Capital Overhaul (COH) processes by providing technical expertise and ensuring all protection systems are maintained and upgraded as necessary.
Conduct annual internal protection audits to evaluate the effectiveness of current systems and identify areas for improvement.
Coordinate external protection audits every five years, working with third-party auditors to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Manage regular system upgrades, including identifying needs, budgeting, collaborating with OEMs, and overseeing the completion of upgrades.
Coordinate relay settings reviews and provide recommendations based on changes in grid conditions to ensure optimal system performance.
Regulatory and System Studies:
Participate in monthly meetings with government regulators, such as regional power committees.
Prepare and present detailed data on system health and any grid occurrences to the Team Lead Protection for submission to authorities.
Conduct comprehensive power systems studies, including load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies for new plant power evacuation.
Training and Development:
Provide protection-related training to internal and external site engineers to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Develop detailed training materials and conduct workshops to ensure all team members are well-versed in protection systems and procedures.
Conduct technical audits to ensure compliance with standards and identify areas for improvement, providing detailed reports and action plans.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
Conduct Root Cause Analyses for equipment failures and ensure implementation across all sites.
Provide recommendations and ensure RCA findings are integrated into maintenance plans.
Investigate recurring failures across units and propose solutions under the guidance of the Head of Department (HOD).
Management of Change (MOC):
Propose and approve Management of Change (MOC) initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, and safety.
Evaluate and approve all MOC proposals related to switchyard protection systems.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A):
Conduct technical due diligence for switchyard protection systems-related aspects in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activities.
Review equipment designs, site operations, and provide red flags and cost implications.
Assess ongoing disputes, equipment issues, and contracting terms.
Provide comprehensive due dilliegence report and cost estimates to the Business Development (BD) team.
Digitisation and Automation:
Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
People and Team Engagement:
Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the team.
Enhance employee engagement across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.
Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioral trainings.
Ensure proper succession planning in the team.
Foster a conducive environment for high employee retention by ensuring team satisfaction and professional development.

Work Experience (Range of years):

Background in Power and Utilities sector with knowledge of latest technologies and trends in switchyard protection systems
