Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Execution
Overview The Strategy team at REI develops the co-op’s long-term vision, goals, and strategic plans. The team also works across the organization to bring strategies to life by driving strategic communications, high-impact initiatives, and the executive operating model. The Senior Manager, Strategic Planning & Execution, is a broad and highly visible role. This role is responsible for driving the development, implementation, and improvement of enterprise strategic planning.. This person helps REI succeed by creating and measuring progress against integrated strategic plans. This person also drives and executes internal communications about strategic plans, providing transparency on plans and building trust in the co-op and its leaders. This role needs strategic thinking, operational expertise, and cross-functional teamwork to align business goals and operational plans. The ideal candidate must deliver high-quality communications and partner effectively with senior leaders. Exceptional organizational and process design/management skills are important. The candidate must drive results and accountability across multiple teams while often managing through ambiguity. Responsibilities and Qualifications Responsibilities Develops and champions the vision and roadmap for Enterprise Strategic Planning processes, aligning with the overall co-op’s strategy. Facilitates creation of integrated enterprise strategic plans across priorities, test & learn agendas, and aligned financials. Drives collaboration and strategic alignment across functions ensuring shared accountability around enterprise priorities, plans, and goals. Drives and manages mechanisms to support executive operating rhythm. Provides holistic visibility on progress against enterprise goals, plans, and priorities. Contributes to executive reports that offer oversight, guidance, and feedback. Facilitates meetings to review status, drive alignment, and support decision making. Collaborates with planning functions across the co-op to improve planning processes and ensure collaboration on enterprise plans and priorities. Helps craft high quality communications and content around strategic plans/priorities and progress against them, both internally and with the Board of Directors. Sets team best practices for initiative mobilization and management. Oversees involvement in developing business and execution plans, business cases, communications, change management, program management, project management, and governance. Proven ability to lead and manage strategic initiatives in partnership with senior executives. Ability to be professionally proactive in order to influence outcomes, advocate for enterprise priorities, and ensure accountability. Recognizes the importance of building relationships and trust across peer group and senior managers. Manages or contributes to ongoing process improvement to reduce waste. Helps streamline and standardize how work is approached and accomplished. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in Strategic Planning/Operations or a related role. Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including c-suite senior executives. Preference for a background in both consulting and industry. Retail or consumer experience is a plus. 3+ years of program management experience in a mid to large corporate environment B.A. degree in planning, finance, business or related fields Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a track record of driving cross-functional collaboration and delivering business results in a dynamic environment. Exceptional strategic thinking and critical skills. Able to generate insights from data and turn them into actionable plans and recommendations. Process improvement mindset, prior experience driving change and transformational efforts Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to engage and align stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
