What is the opportunity?
The Personal Banking industry is rapidly changing with digitization of products, services, and channels, emerging non-traditional competitors, changing client demographics, preferences, and choices, and heightened regulatory attention. This role will play a critical role in delivering changes for regulatory related projects as well as changes related to internally identified issues related to government regulations or internal policies that pose significant risk to the bank.
The Senior Manager, Regulatory Strategy and Delivery will work closely with partners from across the enterprise (within Personal Bank, Commercial Bank, Operations, T&O, HR, Compliance, Group Risk, etc.) to understand the change, translate regulatory requirements into product processes and system solutions for compliance. Work with risk partners to build new controls or enhance existing controls. Document any residual risks and mitigation strategies.
What will you do?
Work with partners from across the enterprise to identify root causes of regulatory and risk related issues
Where issues are identified, will work with risk partners to conduct risk assessment and recommend solutions to help mitigate and remediate the issues.
Prepares presentation materials, presents finding to align understanding and expectation for different teams across the enterprise.
Responsible for delivery of regulatory initiatives (remediation / new regulatory requirement) as required
Monitor the progress of assigned regulatory initiatives. Identify risks that could potentially delay implementation and escalate appropriately to senior stakeholders
Responsible for supporting the transition of initiative to on-going monitoring and support to ensure risks are within RBC risk appetite
Identify and support driving efficiencies and continuous improvement into RS&D horizontal risk management of key programs
Acts as a trusted advisor and SME influencing risk mitigation and control design decisions.
Work with stakeholders to develop process, control and documentation and become a SME on Consumer Protection related regulations
Responsible to support escalation/inquiries from LOB as it relates to your SME domain
Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add.
Support business requirement gathering that will support the sign off by key stakeholders
Manage detailed business requirement phases identifying, tracking and resolving issues.
Build strong partnerships with key partners from Personal Banking, Compliance, HR, GRM, technology and data partners, etc.
Facilitate complex group meetings and conduct information gathering sessions.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
5-7 years of experience in risk management practices in financial services
Experience in identifying and implementing appropriate controls for risk mitigation
Understanding of the Operational Risk Management Framework
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal); ability to communicate with people in a wide variety of areas and at various levels from specialists to executives
Strong problem solving and analytical ability
Ability to quickly and efficiently adapt to new concepts
Ability to work collaborative with cross-function teams and business units
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management or other related qualifications
