A Day in Your Life at MKS:
The Senior Manager, Quality Engineering will lead the quality team in the MKS Malaysia Manufacturing Supercenter. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring that all products meet internal and external quality requirements, and that all product lines are adequately staffed to drive product and process improvements, verify quality objectives and maintain a high degree of customer satisfaction. This role will require collaboration with cross functional teams to achieve organizational objectives and drive continuous improvement and will actively engage and perform quality engineering functions when necessary. This role also requires regular interface with MKS design centers in the U.S. and around the globe and will be directly interacting with customers. This position requires excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate and solve problems logically and efficiently.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Developing and implementing a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with business goals.
Leading and mentoring a quality team consisting of engineers, inspectors and technicians.
Serving as the voice of quality in cross-functional leadership meetings.
Overseeing quality control processes for multiple product lines and business units.
Collaborating with engineering, production, and supplier quality on production issues, new product introductions, and improvement initiatives.
Analyzing manufacturing data and quality metrics to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
Driving containment, root cause and corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving techniques.
Ensuring SPC programs are in place with reaction plans when control limits are exceeded.
Implementing and maintaining an ISO9001 compliant quality management system and acting as the primary quality contact for certifying body registrars and 3rd party auditors.
Leading internal and external audit activity, including customer audits and visits.
Participating in risk management activities including PFMEA and control plan development.
Participating and contributing to Quality Improvement Team (QIT) meetings and initiatives.
Supporting the product transfer of new product introductions (NPI) through collaboration with the design center to ensure quality requirements and validation protocols are defined and met.
Skills You Bring:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality or related field.
10+ years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role and preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, automotive). Prior experience in semiconductor capital equipment industry is a plus.
Strong knowledge of quality engineering disciplines, tools and methodologies.
Expertise using structured problem-solving techniques and experience with 8D, 5-why, Fishbone / Fault tree, PFMEA, K-T, DOE and other problem-solving tools.
Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP) and quality methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, SPC).
In-depth knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, etc.). Internal audit experience desired.
Experience collaborating with international teams and interfacing directly with customers.
Preferred Skills:
Building and managing a quality team consisting of engineers, inspectors and technicians.
Experience working in a complex electro-mechanical systems manufacturing environment.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and MS Office applications. Proficiency with Power BI also a plus.
Working knowledge of inspection methods, C=0 sampling plans, and use of inspection tools and equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively both verbally and written mediums with international teams, peers, technicians and management personnel.
Working knowledge of Oracle ERP and Agile PLM systems a plus.
Certifications such as CMQ-OE, CQE, Lean Six Sigma are a plus.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Minimal travel is anticipated (<5%) as part of normal duties however some domestic and/or international travel may be needed as part of onboarding for training purposes.
Occasional work hour flexibility to accommodate international conferencing and deadlines.
