Senior Manager, Health Information Management

Job Description

Manages, plans, and organizes the staff and activities of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department. Collaborates with the leadership to implement EMR systems, reviews coding plans to ensure current billing cycle, monitors the delinquent chart count, and oversees the suspension process.

Job Responsibility

 

Provides leadership to HIM team members, supervisors, and managers by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives. Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system. Manages and coordinates the staff and activities of the HIM Department; implements Electronic Medical Record information management the health systems including maintaining data standards, quality and procedures. Ensures computer equipment is updated on a timely basis to keep coding accurate and current; interacts with the health systems support staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Reviews the coding plan for potential problems and ensures daily quotas are met to ensure a current billing cycle; monitors the Delinquent Chart Management the health system; evaluates the delinquent chart count; recommends and implements corrective action to keep the number under threshold. Oversees the production of the weekly suspension list and related reports; maintains accurate and orderly data to support the suspension process; conducts concurrent and retrospective audits of discharge data and logbook documentation to ensure quality and integrity of records. Manages and implements staffing requirements; ensures adequate coverage at all times. Develops and manages direct reports; oversees the development and management of indirect reports. Builds and maintains productive inter/intra-departmental work relationships to optimize operations. Ensures operating compliance with government and agency regulations. Ensures coordination, integration, communication, implementation, integrity, and evaluation of operating policies and procedures consistent with standards. Performs related duties as required. Job Qualification

 

Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. 6-10 years of relevant experience and 5-7 years of leadership / management experience, required. Advanced knowledge in Excel & PowerPoint, preferred. Prior experience in EPIC, preferred.
