Senior Manager, Government Affairs and Public Policy, Technical Infrastructure
**Minimum qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 14 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups or relevant industry associations. **Preferred qualifications:** + Experience with infrastructure policy, such as submarine cable, data center, or other telecommunications policy. + Knowledge of cloud computing, technical infrastructure, or Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them. + Ability to lead an experienced team. + Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams. + Excellent communication skills along with attention to detail. As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. In this role, you will help lead Google Cloud’s public policy efforts in support of the growing global infrastructure development. You will coordinate with the global Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) team, business and product organizations, and cross-functional partners in Marketing, Legal, and PR to develop and execute a public policy strategy that includes initiatives, external narratives, human rights assessments, product alignment, and negotiations to address a variety of policy challenges associated with Google Cloud’s international investment in data centers and other technical infrastructure. Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, consider others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $221,000-$311,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Learn more about benefits at Google (https://careers.google.com/benefits/) . **Responsibilities:** + Work with Google leadership to develop policy positions, create external collateral, and consult on regulatory/legislative proposals for key policy issues impacting Google Cloud’s technical infrastructure. + Engage directly with policymakers, industry players, and key opinion formers to support legislative proposals and political dialogue on key policy and reputation issues related to the company’s infrastructure investments. + Advise stakeholders on policy developments and trends, highlighting their implications for business strategy, product development, and market access. + Support GAPP teams directly by engaging with policymakers and regulators in priority countries by analyzing regulatory frameworks, developing mitigation strategies to address challenges, and supporting in-market launch events that leverage Google Cloud’s infrastructure investments. + Partner with stakeholders to develop and support programmatic and public relations efforts that leverage Google Cloud infrastructure investments and drive key messages with policymakers and key opinion formers.
