Role Purpose
1. Lead the development of competitive and consistent pricing proposals for global and regional tenders related to customers in the largest sales channels. Provide proactive recommendations to sales owners, heads of sales industries, country sales directors, and/or Global/Regional VPs of Sales regarding pricing strategies.
2. Manage a team of Pricing Analysts and Managers supporting RFQs and contract renewals for Global Sales Channel customers.
3. Recommend improvements to customer pricing processes and drive implementation at higher organizational levels.
4. Serve as a key advisor and subject matter expert within the pricing community and across the global organization.
1. Development of Competitive and Consistent Pricing for Global and Regional Tenders
• Clarify service requirements and gather all relevant inputs (e.g., shipping profile, customer strategy, target prices, RFQ response guidelines).
• Lead pricing strategy discussions for each tender, providing sound justification and recommendations to sales owners.
• Analyze profitability and rate levels for existing and potential business; benchmark against competitors and other DHL customers.
• Conduct detailed cost analysis to determine customer-specific costs to serve (e.g., special pickups, implants, dedicated linehaul, B2C services, value-added services).
• Prepare consolidated prices in both DHL rate card formats and customer/RFQ templates.
• Ensure consistency of pricing across customers, products, countries, and weight breaks, in line with pricing policies.
• Ensure proper documentation and timely communication of final price proposals to relevant stakeholders.
2. Performance Management of Global and Regional Customer Pricing
• Analyze won/lost bids and propose actionable recommendations.
• Conduct post-implementation reviews of rate execution, shipping profiles, and profitability.
• Perform in-depth profitability analyses to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support the implementation of GPI initiatives and the introduction of new surcharges for global customers.
• Prepare relevant reports and scorecards for performance monitoring.
3. Improvement of Customer Pricing Processes
• Develop tools, procedures, and databases to systematize rate setting, profitability analysis, benchmarking, and price simulations.
• Design and deliver training on pricing processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Propose and support the implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
• Lead complex costing analyses for global customers and ensure costing factor databases are up to date for use in customer-specific pricing.
4. Advisory and Expertise to the Pricing Community and Global Organization
• Serve as a global/regional point of contact for customer pricing topics.
• Support country pricing managers with large bids, particularly those exceeding €1M or involving multiple countries/regions.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
• Provide input to regional Tender Review Boards when required.
5. Team Management
• Coach, supervise, and motivate a team of analysts and managers.
• Actively participate in Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) follow-ups and action planning.
• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience within DHL or 8 years in a similar role.
• 6–8 years of experience in finance, pricing, or a related analytical field.
• Hands-on experience with pricing, costing, and quantitative analysis—preferably within DHL.
• Proven experience in coaching or supervising team members is highly desirable.
