About the role:

The Senior Manager, Global Corporate Communications, Corporate Responsibility will develop and implement communication strategies that support the company’s corporate responsibility (CR) goals while strengthening Boston Scientific’s reputation as a leading global medical technology organization. This role will serve as a communications lead to the vice president of Corporate Responsibility and act as an advisor to the senior CR leadership team, leading communications strategies for the company’s sustainability, health equity and community impact initiatives. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple projects across a matrixed organization and work collaboratively with global corporate responsibility and communications colleagues, corporate functions, business units, regional teams and external organizations.

 

The selected candidate must be willing to work in a hybrid capacity, spending three days per week on average at the company’s Marlborough, MA, Arden Hills, MN, or Maple Grove, MN office.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Narrative development: Define the CR narratives and storylines that demonstrate the Boston Scientific purpose, mission and values in action.  Strategic content: Create high-impact communications (e.g. articles, videos, internal updates, and social media) that engage diverse stakeholders and demonstrate progress toward CR goals. Support communications around the annual performance report and other key disclosures. Executive communications: Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the VP of Corporate Responsibility and CR leadership team. Develop talking points, briefing materials, and communications for internal and external engagements (e.g., customer meetings, conferences, board meetings). Internal communications: Lead internal communications to build awareness and engagement around CR initiatives and progress, ensuring alignment with regional teams.    Corporate responsibility web strategy: Ensure corporate responsibility web content is accurate, current, and aligned with CR messaging and the Boston Scientific brand, in partnership with external vendors and internal digital/brand teams. External engagement & thought leadership: Identify and advise on external engagement opportunities. Develop key messages, briefing materials, presentations, and social strategies to position CR leaders as thought leaders among external audiences (e.g., peers, investors, media, regulators). Collaborate closely with corporate PR to ensure message consistency. Ratings and rankings: Develop communication plans to maximize visibility and recognition around rankings and ratings. Benchmarking: Track industry and peer trends in CR communications to identify needs, gaps and potential areas for differentiation.  Impact and measurement: Partner with corp comms and digital teams to establish metrics that assess communication effectiveness and drive continuous improvement

 

 

 

Required qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent.  Accomplished communications or public relations professional with a minimum of 7 years of communications experience on the agency or client side, preferably with direct experience in sustainability and corporate responsibility- related communications. Outstanding written and verbal communication with demonstrated ability to create authentic, strategic and relevant content that engages and inspires internal and external stakeholders and that can be adapted for multiple channels. Proven and respected communications consultant with strong judgement and executive presence; experience working with and counseling at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. Ability to prioritize and put processes in place to achieve results while balancing competing priorities and dealing with ambiguity. Demonstrated solid judgment and success working under deadlines with tight timeframes. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. High emotional intelligence; adept at leading through ambiguity, incorporating differing viewpoints into recommendations and consensus-building. Adept at working in a fast-paced team environment while also displaying independence, initiative and a global mindset.

 

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations Journalism or equivalent.  Familiarity with sustainability ratings and rankings and regulatory disclosures (e.g.,  Corporate Responsibility Reporting Directive). Experience developing thought leadership strategies and content in CR space. Demonstrated development of editorial content that align to a PESO model Demonstrated business acumen, analytical skills and the ability to synthesize and translate findings into strategic recommendations.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
