Job Description

We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and employee-focused Benefits Communications Senior Manager to lead all communications related to our benefits and well-being programs. This role will have global responsibility with special focus on the U.S. and Canada regions. Reporting to the Director of Global Employee Engagement and Culture Communications, and responsible for managing a Communications Specialist, the person will be responsible for developing and executing clear, engaging messages and campaigns that help employees understand and use the resources available to support their health, financial security, and overall well-being.

Working closely with HR, Total Rewards, vendors and internal stakeholders, you’ll help build trust, drive engagement, and ensure our benefits and well-being offerings are communicated with clarity and care.

Based in either Los Angeles or New York, this position will be hybrid with a mix of working in an AECOM office and virtually.

Responsibilities include:

Develop and implement a year-round comprehensive communications strategy for Open Enrollment, benefits and well-being initiatives across a variety of channels to a primarily internal audience to drive understanding and engagement. This includes but is not limited to medical, dental and vision coverage, other benefits and wellness initiatives.Create engaging, accessible communications that explain complex topics (e.g., medical plan changes, open enrollment, retirement planning) in a clear and relatable way.Serve as a go-to expert and trusted resource for benefits-related communication needs.Develop and deliver creative content to support campaigns and strategies. This includes but is not limited to tactics like leadership messages, employee newsletter stories, intranet content, talking points, FAQs, presentations, blogs, social posts, and videos.Track engagement metrics and employee feedback to continuously improve communication effectiveness and best practices.Provide communication support during change events (e.g., vendor transitions, new program launches, plan design changes).Simultaneously support multiple workstreams with various stakeholders—identifying connections among them for more strategic storytelling.Ensure developed communications content meets AECOM brand and quality standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, HR or related field, plus at least 10 years of progressive experience in HR and employee communications, preferably with a focus on benefits, total rewards or employee engagement – including at least 2 years of leadership experience - or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationFamiliarity with benefits programs and terminology (e.g., medical, dental, 401(k), wellness, EAP, etc.)Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex informationExperience creating communications across multiple formats (emails, videos, presentations, intranet content)Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlinesComfortable working cross-functionally and influencing without direct authorityHighly proficient in MS Office, intranet platforms (such as SharePoint) and email newsletter platforms (such as Poppulo)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with a similarly large, global, complex organizationKnowledge of accessibility best practices in communicationsBackground in employer branding or change communicationsExperience with creative tools and all major social media platforms
