Senior Manager, Employee Experience and Belonging
**I. Job Summary** The Senior Manager of Employee Experience and Belonging will provide leadership to ensure WM creates an environment where every employee feels connected, valued, and part of our purpose. This role will focus on building a culture of belonging by connecting employees to our Commitments and Values, the work we do, and the communities we serve. The position will lead programs and initiatives that foster belonging across all employees, with a particular focus on frontline employees having access to and awareness of WM’s opportunities, benefits, and communications. A key responsibility includes providing leadership and support to Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Business Resource Groups (BRGs), ensuring they foster connection, align with our business strategy, and deliver measurable business returns. This leader will partner with Internal Communications and the Human Resources Team to bring WM’s employee value proposition to life, ensuring our culture and values are consistently experienced by all employees. In addition, this role will partner with WM’s social impact strategy and manage key external relationships that enhance employee experience and belonging across the organization. Preferred locations include Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL or Philadelphia, PA. Other locations will be considered and would sit in the nearest WM office. **II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Lead strategy and programs that build a culture of belonging across the enterprise, ensuring all employees feel connected to WM’s purpose, Commitments, and Values. + Design and deliver initiatives that strengthen employee connection and community, with a strong focus on reaching and engaging frontline employees. + Engage directly with frontline employees and leaders to ensure WM’s culture, values and employee experience programs are accessible, meaningful and have impact employees in all roles. + Partner with Internal Communications to ensure all messages are clear, engaging, and accessible for employees across all roles, geographies, and shifts. + Create tools and processes that elevate the voice of employees across their lifecycle (new hires, tenured employees, and exiting employees), ensuring feedback informs belonging-focused programs. + Provide leadership, resources, and guidance for ERGs and BRGs, ensuring they serve as platforms for employee connection and deliver measurable business returns. + Collaborate with the Human Resources Team and business leaders to embed belonging into talent practices, leadership development, and workforce programs. + Build strong, trust-based relationships across the organization, modeling behaviors that promote openness, psychological safety, and a sense of shared purpose. + Partner with WM’s social impact strategy to align employee experience with broader community commitments and oversee key external partnerships that advance belonging and business impact. + Travel up to approximately 25-35%. **III. Qualifications** **A. Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited). + 4 years of relevant experience. + 7 years of previous experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related area (in addition to education requirement). + 7 years of project/program management experience, ideally in a geographically dispersed corporate and field operations environment. Or, + 7 years of experience partnering with communications to deliver messages employees want to engage with, using creative tactics and media. + Experience working with large organizations with diverse employee groups and demographics. + Experience connecting culture and belonging to frontline employees in a way that drives awareness, engagement and positive impact. + Experience working in an Operations environment or industry (distribution, logistics, aviation, contact/call centers, etc.) with a track record of implementing initiatives that produced measurable business results. + Demonstrated expertise in creating and sustaining a culture of belonging, including experience leading ERGs/BRGs, employee connection initiatives, or equivalent belonging-focused programs. + Must live and work in the US **B. Preferred Qualifications** + Advanced degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Business. + Experience designing belonging-focused initiatives for both frontline and corporate employees. + Experience aligning ERGs/BRGs to deliver cultural and business outcomes. The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $126,000 - $165,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
