Role Summary:
This role will be leading domestic and/or international corporate accounting operations teams to provide accurate accounting information for Vanguard and subsidiaries, month end close processes, and effective internal controls. This role ensures compliance with financial recording standards, manages account reconciliations, and prepares accounting reports for internal and external audiences. It also oversees cost accounting, budgeting, and accounts payable/receivable functions as needed.
Responsibilities:
Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
Oversees the month and year end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of statutory financial statements, management information systems (MIS), and dashboards for both local and global reporting requirements, enabling consolidation processes, regulatory reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, and fluctuation analysis to provide assurance to senior management around accuracy of information.
Oversees the delivery of corporate accounting records to external auditors during annual audits and liaises closely with both external and internal auditors to address queries and make necessary adjustments.
Develops and evaluates the global operating standards for corporate accounting. Ensures ongoing compliance to the standard and monitors ongoing changes to local accounting pronouncements and ensures compliance with both global and local accounting standards.
Participates in the senior corporate accounting leadership team as part of the steering committee providing advice, guidance and oversight on future state organization, business process design, and technology prioritization. Provides strategic financial support to the COO, Transformation, and PMO offices.
Drives the development and implementation of procedural changes to department/corporate policies that add controls and improve workflows to meet changing business needs. Recommends and monitors the control environment and framework to safeguard against fraud, misuse and inefficiency. Ensures robust internal controls over financial reporting and oversees transfer pricing implementation.
Advises on the interpretation and application of new and/or complex accounting regulatory changes. Provides guidance to internal business clients with update to internal policies and procedures as necessary.
Ensures adherence to Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), GST, and other statutory compliance requirements, including secretarial and governance frameworks.
Champions controls with regard to business risk and efficiency of process working in collaboration with business partners. Ensures that risk issues are proactively identified and properly addressed and integrated into all daily processes.
Promotes the use of appropriate dashboards. Monitors documentation for departmental procedures. Partners with global finance to identify cost control opportunities, ensure procurement policy compliance, and oversee vendor management and renewals.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Ensures adherence to standards for recording financial transactions including general ledger, cash payments and collections, and tax-related entries to maintain accurate accounting records.
Controls and reconciles key accounts such as balance sheet items, profit and loss statements, and bank accounts to maintain financial integrity and support reporting accuracy.
Prepares and reviews accounting reports and schedules for internal management purposes as well as external compliance and consolidation, including cash flow and budget reporting. Manages annual budgets, periodic forecasting, and cost-saving initiatives.
Supports cost accounting activities such as cost allocation, variance analysis, and budget preparation to facilitate effective financial planning and operational efficiency. Optimizes cash flows and manages foreign exchange exposures from a treasury perspective.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of related work experience, with at least 6 years in financial services and experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.Com) or Master’s degree/Diploma in Business Administration, Economics and Finance or related disciplines.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, reconciliation processes, and cost accounting techniques.
Experience in Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), GST, and other statutory compliance, governance frameworks, treasury operations, transfer pricing, procurement policies, and vendor management is highly desirable.
Excellent leadership, communication, and process improvement skills.
CPA is preferred.
