Senior Manager, Compensation Governance and Regulatory Compliance

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Compensation Governance and Regulatory Compliance is an integral member of the Compensation Governance Team, providing support to RBC’s Board of Directors and senior management as they discharge the responsibilities of overseeing RBC’s compensation programs and practices. This role will provide high exposure to senior leadership through the development of the policies, frameworks and external disclosures. This individual will also have the opportunity to develop compensation practices and lead initiatives to comply with evolving global regulatory requirements. We are seeking a versatile candidate who thrives in a changing environment and is looking to make an impact in the organization.

What will you do?

Public Disclosures

Prepare the Compensation Discussion & Analysis (CD&A) content for the annual Proxy CircularBenchmark peer proxies to understand industry best practices and emerging trends

Executive Committee Planning and Coordination

Organize the committee meetings including setting agenda, coordinating materials, scheduling, and ensuring governance standards are met for data retention and documentationSupport the Annual General Meeting by ensuring senior leaders are prepped for Q&A on compensationManage the calendar of events leading up to each committee meeting and year end disclosureProactively recommend process changes as observed

Policy Review

Lead in-depth review and annual refresh of Compensation policies and related processes and standards, including change management of downstream impacts to our business and functional partners

Research and Advisory

Act as the central point of contact with global stakeholders (e.g. Law, Compliance, etc.) and work with local compensation/HR team to ensure RBC stays abreast of evolving legislative and regulatory mattersDraft correspondence with regulators in response to new legislative requirements or proposalsAssess the impact of new regulation and work with business and functional partners to identify and implement action plans

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

Undergraduate degree with 5-8 years progressive experience in HR, risk, compliance, audit, finance or regulatory Advanced technical skills in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Strong project management skills with sound judgment on when to escalate, negotiate or be flexiblePrevious experience (2+ years) working with policies, procedure documents, standards, and frameworks, including executing refreshes, attestations or proposing improvementsStrong problem solving, learning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and have strong attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills suitable for senior-level audiencesStrong appreciation for the regulatory landscape and interest in researchCollaborative approach and enjoy working in a team environment

 

Nice-to-have:

Knowledge of financial services industry Knowledge of legal and regulatory issues with respect to compensation
