Job Description
 

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Sr Director of Commercial Operations, the Senior Manager of Commercial Learning and Development (CL&D) will serve as the CL&D Business Partner for Canada, addressing the commercial training needs of the HIV, liver diseases, and oncology business units. This role involves designing and managing comprehensive learning and development initiatives, from foundational to advanced levels, for the field force. The Senior Manager will lead the development and execution of the annual CL&D learning plan, ensuring competitive fitness, executional excellence, and patient centricity.

Key Responsibilities:

Annual Learning Plan: Lead, develop, and execute the annual learning plan for the HIV, liver diseases, and oncology therapy teams.

Training Development: Manage the development and planning of initial training for new hires in sales, marketing, and cross-functional roles within the HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, and oncology teams.

Competency Integration: Integrate Gilead’s sales and competencies model into all field-focused training activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various departments to develop and implement new training activities that enhance therapeutic area expertise related to product and disease education.

LMS Management: Oversee the Gilead Learning Management System (LMS) for content innovation, adaptation, and updates in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Training Materials: Develop training support materials and manage key projects with internal and external partners.

Sales Support: Provide support to Sales Directors by managing and communicating updates to global and local coaching resources, such as field coaching reports.

Digital Transformation: Participate in the digital transformation program, implementing innovative training solutions that leverage digital technology.

Global Collaboration: Partner with the Global Gilead Learning and Development team to ensure local awareness and utilization of key assets for each therapeutic area.

Needs Analysis: Conduct needs analysis, address solutions, and embed certification and KPI strategies in training initiatives to ensure competitive differentiation.

Knowledge and Skills:

Positive, growth mindset and ability to foster an inclusive and diverse working environment.

Strong commercial training skills with expertise in commercial skills, core business skills, benchmarking, and soft skills.

Familiarity with sales training concepts, practices, and procedures.

Ability to develop and implement training plans and manage projects on time and within budget.

Excellent planning, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Strong affinity for digital learning environments and analytical skills.

Experience in leading cross-functional projects.

Proficiency in relevant software systems (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint).

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in commercial training or health education.

3+ years of successful field sales experience.

8+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including product launch experience.

Expertise in adult learning and consultative selling; certification is an asset.

Experience in virology and/or oncology therapeutic areas is an asset.

Expertise in launch excellence and commercial training is an asset.
