The recent expansion of the Business Risk Management team within the business reflects the importance of proactive risk management aligned with line of business priorities, and strategic investment to bring risk management expertise closer to the Commercial banking segment, to ensure risks are assessed with a deep understanding of the business.
The Senior Manager, Business Risk Management Oversight and Delivery, is a business lead for 1st line of defense risk oversight and implementation within Commercial Banking, covering an assigned product/service team and/or priority risk horizontal across the business.
Operating Within the Enterprise Initiative Management framework, and as part of the Commercial Banking Business Risk Management team, the incumbent is accountable to providing Oversight and Management of all Risk and Regulatory initiatives, for the entirety of the Commercial Bank to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and enterprise Initiative management framework.
What will you do?
Implements and supports Commercial banking’s end to end program management process for Regulatory and Risk initiatives, ensuring Standards are met and common tools are used such as confluence, Jira, MS Project, Planview, Project Lifecycle managementAbility to lead and manage projects as a program manager with in-depth understanding of risks, issues escalation, EIMF framework and project lifecycle management.Ensures and mandates centralized PMO governance with all initiatives using EIMF and Planview including standardization of templates and methodologiesOwns and develops delivery dashboards to provide a consistent view of BRM Delivery PortfolioStatus Accuracy and Reporting: Review and validate project or report statuses to ensure accuracy and alignment with the current situation. Address discrepancies by engaging with stakeholders to provide clarification and resolve concerns.Conducts periodic audits to ensure consistent utilization of the EIMF framework across the portfolioSupports Director, Business Commercial Risk & Regulatory Initiatives in Prioritization, Funding and Onboarding of new Regulatory & Risk management initiatives.Track and manage all commercial banking spend connected to Regulatory or Risk initiatives in Planview or similar toolsProvide a monthly reporting and a centralized view on all Risk and Regulatory initiatives ensuring full transparency on all delivery risks, issues and delivery progression.Supports risks and issues escalation across the program to centralized Executive steering committeesLeads Governance structure for all Commercial banking Regulatory and Risk initiatives ensuring transparency and accountability.Management of delivery professionals that adhere to delivery standards and delivery controls incorporating consistent program view and reportingSupports preparation for various Executive Steering CommitteesIdentifies opportunities for continuous improvement in delivery excellenceWhat do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
2-3 years of experience in financial services or related businessPost-secondary education in business or related disciplineStrong interpersonal skills, collaboration, relationship building, and communication skills to work across a diverse range of colleagues, functions and business areasWell-developed problem-solving, critical thinking skills, inquisitive nature and comfort challenging current practicesExcellent communicator with strong writing and presentation skillsSound understanding of risk and control frameworks and practices used in bankingSound understanding of process and control design methodologiesPrioritizes for impact; able to manage multiple priorities Strong Project Management Skills including risk and issue identification and budget managementPrevious Planview experienceNice to have:
2-3 years of experience as a risk professional5 years of Project management and program management experiencePrevious knowledge/experience with Key Risks/Controls tools (e.g. ERIC/Archer)Expert Knowledge of RBC EIMF FrameworkPrevious experience with Dashboards (power BI,Jira)Working knowledge : Lean KitPMO Governance experience an assetPCO experience an assetStrong business acumen; understands profit & loss levers in commercial financial servicesFamiliarity with risk data, systems and reporting toolsKnowledge of Canadian Banking operations and processesKnowledge of Commercial BankingKnowledge of the current Regulatory environmentSound understanding of Enterprise Initiative Management frameworks and practices used in Canadian bankingGraduate degree or professional designationWhat’s in it for you?
