What is the Opportunity?
As part of the RBC Technology & Operations (T&O) Business Continuity & Disaster Readiness team, the Senior Manager, Business Continuity Management (BCM) will be working directly with T&O businesses as a first line of defense advisor and expert for the Enterprise Business Continuity Management Program delivery. Essential to this role is your ability to ensure that RBC meets the maximum level of preparedness, and compliance to OSFI and industry standards for Incident Management & Business Continuity Planning (BCP). In tandem with T&O’s business unit management, you will ensure that operational risks are identified and mitigated to perfect a Business Continuity environment. You will also consult and manage with high-level recovery strategies and tactical planning.
What will you do?
Acts as a senior advisor to Senior Directors and Executives, providing guidance and oversight to ensure effective execution of the BCRM program.
Provides support to the team where necessary ensuring all artefacts are timely scheduled, completed and approved by required dates.
Responsible for ongoing monitoring and development of BCRM Reporting and compliance report for Director, and Senior Leadership.
Consult and manage tactical BCRM activities including completion of Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Threat Risk Assessment (TRA) and supplier dependencies within area of responsibility.
Conduct BCRM exercises like Work Area Recovery, Call Tree, simulations to test controls and validate the planning assumptions.
Support the development, maintenance, and communication of BCRM’s suite of governance
documents, including Procedures and Job Aids.
Support the development of BCRM training and Risk Awareness across T&O.
Develop a continuous improvement plan to identify and mitigate potential BCRM related issues, conflicts, and risks.
Partner with the Enterprise BCRM Central team, Regional and Business Line Management to create, coordinate and maintain a multi-discipline Incident Management Team to provide a resilient response to incidents; remain apprised of environmental and potential business impacting BCRM related risks.
Prepare T&O business units for potential disruption through communication and reporting processes related to Incident Management, Business Continuity and Recovery Strategy within area(s) of responsibility.
Provide BCM expertise to colleagues and management in understanding and managing BCM risk across T&O while ensuring all business continuity deliverables comply with RBC Standards and Policy and T&O business meets the maximum level of preparedness for Business continuity and Incident Management.
Establish strong working relationships across business units and collaborate with senior leadership to build, influence and impact key business decisions.
Adhere to OSFI E-21: Operational Risk and Resilience Guideline requirements.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, Completion of Associate Business Continuity Professional certification (ABCP) or CBCP.
Demonstrated experience in Business Continuity, Incident, Crisis, Disaster Recovery, and/or Risk Management.
Experience in building strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
Very strong planning, analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and assess risk in complex environments.
Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication along with strong organizational, leadership and presentation skills.
Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Nice-to-have:
Experience in a large global matrix environment, such as a publicly traded corporation.
Risk mindset, data analysis capability and thought leadership.
Prior business continuity or operational risk experience at a large FI organization.
Recognized Certifications in business continuity, crisis management, emergency management or risk management.
