Senior Maintenance Technician

As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance Engineering department in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work a 24/7 shift pattern (7 shifts across 14 days which include 12-hour days & nights).

About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed

QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.

Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.

On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.

Your new role:

This Senior Maintenance Technician role focuses on maximising the availability and performance of production equipment. You'll be responsible for maintaining equipment compliance using SAP, analysing data to eliminate recurring issues, and continuously improving maintenance procedures. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration with operations, process engineering, and project teams, as well as communication with vendors and equipment manufacturers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Maximising Process Equipment Availability and PerformanceMaintain equipment compliance via the equipment management database, ‘SAP’.  Ensure all equipment reporting fields are rigorously followed and updated with concise, detailed information. All equipment breakdown interventions and recoveries are captured and updated to ‘SAP’. Root cause must be established following the 6 questions of RCI.Continuous improvement of routine maintenance procedures and service contract activities.Accountability & Ownership of the designated value stream process equipment in order to identify improvement opportunities.Deputise for Maintenance Shift Lead in instances of absenceResponsible for Reaction and Escalation adherence during out of hours working and at weekendsAnalysing production data to identify and eliminate recurring issues to enable the value stream to achieve operational targetsSupport departmental heads in engineering workshop (Including tool management), HSE & 5’s improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Time served apprenticeshipStructured problem-solving methodologies.Previous experience with CMMSProven track record of process equipment maintenance, and installation within a regulated environment.Documentation / Technical report writing skills.Good working knowledge of Microsoft office tools for communication and reportingElectrical or Mechanical biased skillsetDrives Results - demonstrates a strong drive to achieve results in face of obstacles.Customer Focus - searches for ways to improve service, takes feedback and follows up.Electrical and Mechanical skillset
