Senior M&E Process Engineer - Settle Creamery

Settle is a 24/7 site with c120 people producing UHT and Lactose free milk for UK and Export markets. We are searching for somebody who has a forward thinking mindset that will look to continuously improve systems and ways of working along with developing themselves and others around them.

 

So what do our engineers actually do?

Our Engineers are problem solvers. They are responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing the machinery that allows us to create tasty, healthy, high quality products. As a Process Engineer, you will save the day if there's a breakdown as well as participating in planned preventative maintenance. The main aim of the role is to effectively perform electrical, mechanical maintenance and PLC fault finding of all Dairy process equipment. As a Process Engineer you will be ensuring the legal compliance and efficient/reliable operation of all plant within budget while instilling an atmosphere of continuous improvement to ensure the continued effectiveness of our operations.

 

Due to the site closure which we estimate to be in the second half of 2027, we are offering an enhanced re-ward and support package to support our colleagues. This includes a pro rata retention payment (25% of av-erage annual salary) as well as a redundancy payment based on length of service (no 2-year minimum service needed). We are also offering relocation support for colleagues staying with Arla following site closure as well as out service support for those colleagues who choose not to stay

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

Provide leadership and contribute effectively to the implementation and maintenance of the Health and safety & Quality process on-site. Work collaboratively with the Processing department team. Develop and implement improvement plans for allocated equipment to increase efficiency and tech-nical availability. Conduct RCA investigations in to plant issues and component failures with implementation of correc-tive actions and improvements. Develop an atmosphere of change that will positively contribute towards the advancement of all func-tions relating to the manufacturing operation embracing the Lean culture. Ensuring the legal compliance plant equipment. Ensure Permit To Work compliance and enforce all site H&S rules Ensure Quality & Hygiene procedures are adhered to and all work To complete all predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance work orders as detailed in the de-partmental work load plan, in partnership with the Engineering Planner Work with the Engineering Planner to develop and implement annual overhaul plans for allocated equipment Coach and mentor colleagues embracing shared knowledge to develop their skills and strengthen the engineering team Accountability for withdrawing stock from engineering stores in line with the SAP procedures Defines, standardises and optimises processes including; production and CIPs Conduct audits to measure and improve effectiveness of Site Engineering function

 

What you'll need to be a successful Engineer:

 

Recognised time served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline with HNC/HND Good communication skills (verbal & written) Able to demonstrate logical thought processes and ways of working with an ability to follow detailed instructions 3 years recent detailed experience within an automated process environment – Food / Brewing / Phar-maceutical/ Chemical Technical hands on expert in all process related plant and equipment Mechanical /Electrical/Instrumentation Skilled in reading SCADA visualisations A positive and resilient approach to problem solving, team working, and continuous improvement Use of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – SAP Maintenance Module IT literacy Financial awareness Working knowledge of HSE requirements
