Position Summary:

The Senior Lending Officer plays a critical role in supporting the growth and risk management objectives of Wealth Management Banking. This position is responsible for overseeing a segment of the bank’s credit administration, loan approval, and loan portfolio review processes. By ensuring that existing and proposed credit arrangements comply with corporate policies, the Senior Lending Officer helps maintain a portfolio of high-quality credits. This role includes evaluating new credit opportunities, advising on appropriate loan structures, consulting with relationship managers, and helping implement risk mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:Oversees the quality of credit arrangements originated within an assigned area of lending activities, providing direction on approval and review processes.Assesses new credit opportunities for risk, structure, and pricing, ensuring alignment with corporate policies and loan strategies.Supports client and prospect solicitation efforts through external calls aimed at growing loan, deposit, and fee-based business, including swaps.Implements corporate strategies and loan guidelines, offering consultative advice on credit analysis and structuring.Establishes and manages administrative review systems to maintain the quality of assigned loan portfolios.Directs loan commitment reviews to evaluate financial health, verify loan ratings, and identify potential credit concerns.Collaborates with clients and internal banking advisors to evaluate and structure tailored credit solutions.Advises senior management on the development of credit policies and procedures and recommends changes when needed.Monitors industry trends to ensure competitive positioning of the bank’s credit products.Maintains current knowledge of economic, legal, and regulatory developments that may impact loan portfolio quality.Provides expert consultation to banking advisors on credit arrangements, renewals, and loan amendments.Offers performance feedback to Wealth Management leadership on banking advisors across assigned teams.Ensures compliance with Credit Administration requirements including document deficiencies, past-due reviews, payments, and internal audits.Verifies adherence to all relevant internal and external compliance standards across assigned teams.Serves as a cross-functional leader, applying deep expertise to drive strategic execution across business functions.Leads complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and addresses ambiguous or high-impact issues.Promotes process improvement and operational efficiency through close collaboration with business stakeholders.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Advanced knowledge of the banking industry, lending practices, credit risk management, and financial analysis.Understanding of investments, trust, and financial consulting to identify cross-selling opportunities.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.Flexible and adaptable to change in a dynamic environment.Ability to interpret business challenges and recommend best-in-class solutions.Expertise in managing compliance requirements and maintaining credit quality.

Experience & Education:Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, client servicing, commercial lending, or leasing.Experience leading functional teams or managing projects with moderate risk and complexity preferred.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field required; advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., MBA) preferred.
