PURPOSE AND EXPECTATIONS:
The Global Field Legal Office is seeking an experienced attorney to proactively drive practical solutions and transparency to complex data governance, security, and artificial intelligence topics that impact global field legal teams. The Data & Security Counsel is expected to be a self-starter with the ability to independently produce knowledge resources that provide practical answers to reoccurring operational, technical, and data usage questions. The primary responsibilities of the Data & Security Counsel include the following:
Provide clear and concise, topic-specific guidance to field legal teams Manage topic-specific contractual standards, fallbacks, and prohibitions Create and maintain topic-specific playbooks, knowledge resources, and FAQs Coordinate with various legal teams (Compliance, Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Product Counseling) as well as teams from security, cloud operations, and customer data office Coordinate with RGCs (or regional leads) and build a network of topic-specific legal champions Provide enablement on evolving cloud strategy and delivery models (e.g. artificial intelligence) Advise on recurring data governance and information security risk management matters Provide a “field legal” perspective on strategic projects related to cloud delivery strategy, artificial intelligence, customer data usage, cybersecurity, data center infrastructure, and the overall product development lifecycle. Interpret and communicate complex legal and technical concepts to diverse stakeholdersThe role will report to the Head of the Field Legal Office and will regularly collaborate with security, cloud operations, customer data office, and various legal teams within Regulatory Affairs, Tech Law & Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 7+ years working as a technology attorney Experience in cloud delivery, artificial intelligence, data governance, cloud operations, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and/or information security is a plus. Proven ability to independently manage projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving business and regulatory environment Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a pragmatic, risk-based approach to decision making and compliance Ability to work cross-functionality in a global organization and to collaborate with technical, legal, and business teams at management and executive level Commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, and fostering a collaborative cultureEDUCATION
J.D. or equivalent law degree from an accredited university, Technical/security degrees or certifications (e.g., CCSP) is a plus.LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken English skills are required.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $129,000-$284,400(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
