Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Legal Counsel, Debt Capital Markets.
Principal Responsibilities
The role holder will have primary responsibility for providing legal and transactional advisory support to HSBC’s South-East Asia Debt Capital Markets business.
Principal responsibilities will include:
Providing expert and professional legal advice, guidance and support to ensure that legal and reputational risks of the Debt Capital Markets business are proactively identified and mitigatedAssisting with the preparation, negotiation and review of legal documentation, from confidentiality agreements, engagement letters and term sheets through to transactional documentationEnsuring that the legal function serves as a proactive and strategic partner to the businessCoordinating and managing relationships between internal and external stakeholders, businesses and support functions such as external clients, professional advisors, relationship management and product bankers, compliance and risk functions and agency/trustee teamsBeing innovative and suggesting solutions that are pragmatic and commercially sound, in addition to being legally sound, aligned with HSBC’s strategy and within HSBC’s risk parametersCollaborating with internal lawyers across the Asia Pacific region, providing support, leadership and subject matter expertise and guidance as requiredProviding legal input on local, regional and / or global legal projectsPromoting the adoption of best practice and documentation standards, including representing HSBC at industry associations (as required)Monitoring major legislative changes and assessing the impact of such changes on HSBC’s business
