Your Future Role
Innomotics is seeking a Senior Key Expert Engineer to join our Customer Service Engineering Team located in New Kensington, PA. Our Engineering Team is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting technical solutions for the world’s fleet of Innomotics Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). Our Senior Key Expert Engineer will be responsible for developing solutions to complex problems, resolving technical issues, providing cross-functional leadership, and leading solutions to implementation.

Our Senior Key Expert Engineer must have a deep understanding of Variable Frequency Drive (VFDs) technology and be able to apply it to tackle real-world problems. This position requires strong electrical engineering skills and VFD controls/application proficiency. This role will also enable you to collaborate with our other departments such as Quality, Project Management, Purchasing, R&D, and Engineering as needed to lead/resolve complex field issues and apply lessons learned to future solutions and customer orders.
This role is based in New Kensington, PA, and will work a hybrid schedule as needed based on business needs. (1-3 days/week onsite)
Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise for technical support to our Tech Support and Engineering team to solve customer technical and product problems. Lead and develop solutions to complex field problems. Fix and support complex field problems and system issues for medium voltage variable frequency drives and applications. Support other Customer Service engineers with projects that include drive support, retrofits, and upgrades. Lead and support design changes for field upgrades of existing installed drives (including control system and cooling systems). Lead and support development of aftermarket engineering projects from quotations to implementation at site. Lead and collaborate with other Engineering personnel and specialists to resolve drive performance/configuration issues. Assist with monitoring and assignment of resources for the Customer Service Technical Support Request system to ensure the Technica Support team has the information they need to provide accurate and timely responses. Travel to supplier/customer sites as the need arises to resolve issues including interacting directly with customers and/or Customer Service personnel. Typically, less than 5% per year, short notice travels typically 1 time per year.
Your Profile
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education & Experience:
BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 15+ years of validated experience with medium voltage variable frequency drives. Understanding of analog and digital control systems including ability to analyze and modify drives such as System Operating Programs. Ability to read and understand drawings/schematics and interpret customer specifications. Engineering experience in an internal and external customer facing environment. Familiar with PLC interface and implementation to understand changes and prepare solutions to be implemented by others. Must have general knowledge of industrial controls, including relay logic. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent digital literacy, including Microsoft Office. Must be detail oriented and take ownership of projects. Must be able to lead and work independently on projects to tackle technical issues with minimal direction. Strong organization and excellent time management skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education & Experience:
Hands-on experience with Innomotics drives. Strong understanding of electrical engineering and applications for medium voltage drives. Experience in control theory and power electronics-based converters. Development or commissioning experience with Medium Voltage Drives. Teamcenter experience. SAP experience. AutoCAD and NX experience are preferred, but experience with other CAD 2D/3D drawing software packages is acceptable.
The pay range for this position is $117,000 - $200,700. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
