Investment Specialist - European Private Markets – London
As the growth of Mercer’s Delegated Solutions business accelerates, an exciting opportunity has emerged to join the Alternatives Investment Director team. The team is responsible for managing the >$40bn private market and hedge fund mandates through the Mercer platform and advising on over $170bn of mandates globally. The primary role of the Investment Director team is to support our European clients with their allocations to private markets and hedge funds, including strategic advice on allocations to each Alternative asset class, as well as ongoing review and management of their private market commitments and hedge fund allocations.
Reporting to the Alternatives Investment Leader for Europe, the Investment Specialist will be responsible for supporting discussions with European clients and prospects regarding portfolio construction and manager selection, as well as supporting implementation discussions with clients and prospects across a variety of alternative asset classes.
We will count on you to:
Work closely with our team of Alternative Investment Specialists and Directors to deliver our advice and solutions to clients and prospects across Europe
Liaise with our asset class teams to track new themes and opportunities in Alternatives as well as engaging with asset managers for their latest views and portfolio positioning
Support the delivery of our commingled fund solution range to clients and prospects
Support our sales and consulting colleagues in the marketing and communication of our Alternatives capabilities
Support large client relationships across Europe and take responsibility for delivering our advice on asset allocation, commitment and portfolio planning, as well as leading investment performance reviews and educational training.
What you need to have:
A wealth of investment management or investment consulting experience in a client-facing role
Experience as an investment consultant with private market expertise is preferable
Strong communication and presentation skills with previous background in managing large client relationships, ideally with part of that being in private markets
Experience in leading strategic, commercial and implementation discussions with clients
Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues in multiple jurisdictions
CFA, CAIA (or equivalent investment qualification)
