Job Summary

Develop instructional materials and conduct training for various technical training programs at the Company's s nuclear power stations. An incumbent at this level should have in-depth knowledge of instructional design theory as well as expertise in the technical area for which he or she is providing training. This level works on the most complex training topics and is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating training in the classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job. This level also is responsible for maintaining training programs in accordance with nuclear industry, regulatory, and legal requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

12 + years of related nuclear Instrumentation and Controls Maintenance experience OR;

INPO (Institute of Nuclear Power Operations) Certified Instructor (including 5+ years of  related technical experience) OR;

Sr Instructor Training Cert from Dominion (including 5+ years of technical experience) 

In depth knowledge of instructional theory and design and SAT (Systematic Approach to Training).

Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, good personal computer, operate various instrumentation and controls, problem solving.

Abilities: Analyze and develop training materials, train and lead others, interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers, informal leadership skills, ability to effectively communicate with regulators, monitor trainees and coach/correct.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipine: Education

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Reactor Operator (RO) or Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or applicable discipline INPO accredited initial training program or Senior Instructor Training Certification (Dominion) or Certified Instructor 

ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.5.4

Education requirements: High school diploma

Minimum experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 0.25 yrs. Special requirements:

1.) Shall have demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience and be certified as a qualified instructor for the material being presented;

2.) Instructors of licensed personnel who provide instruction on the simulator shall hold, or shall have held, a senior operator's license or have been certified for equivalent senior operator knowledge.
