Position Summary

The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Senior Instructional Designer manages projects and collaborates with teams to create compelling learning experiences focusing on User Experience (UX) Design. In addition, s/he measures the effectiveness of their designs and makes changes if necessary. S/he designs and develops training content for various delivery methods, including e-learning, instructor-led, and virtual classroom training.


Position Specific Responsibilities

Researches instructional design theories, technologies, trends, and best practices related to the field.Develops storyboards or other visual aids to help communicate course objectives and themes to developers.Creates detailed project plans and timelines for developing and delivering training programs.Conducts needs assessments to identify training gaps and recommend appropriate solutions.Manages all aspects of training projects from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.Creates and implements assessment plans to evaluate eLearning course effectiveness.Serves as a subject matter expert on assigned topics.Determines the authoring tool, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Lectora, to create the learning experience.Establishes a strategy to measure the effectiveness of learning programs.Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field required.At least five (5) years of experience designing and developing adult learning experiences required.Experience with, and expertise in, eLearning authoring tools, including Articulate Storyline and Vyond required.


Skills

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.


Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

ATD Master Instructional Designer certification highly preferred.


Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
