Senior Import Manager, Global Trade Management
Eaton is hiring a Senior Import Manager for Global Trade Management. The candidate must currently reside within the U.S and can work out of an Eaton U.S location or U.S remote location. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Trade Management, this position will lead and manage the company’s compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, ensuring all import activities adhere to the applicable federal laws and trade regulations. 25% travel is required for this role. In particular, this position will focus on minimizing customs-related risks and costs while supporting business continuity through proactive management of tariff impacts, duty mitigation programs and serving as the key liaison with U.S. Customs and other agencies. This position will work to drive automation and a culture of continuous improvement and consistency across the global team. This will be a highly visible role within Eaton. The incumbent will be expected to partner with Senior Business Leaders, GTM/Legal Leaders, and others to align practices and improve services for all of Eaton. This role will support import trade compliance across the enterprise and will collaborate with the global GTM team, supply chain, legal, finance, engineering, and external partners. **What you’ll do:** • Ensure compliance with all U.S. import regulations, including proper classification, valuation, country of origin determination and use of special programs. • Maintain current knowledge of CBP policies, trade laws, and other government agency requirements (FDA, DOT, USDA, etc.) • Develop and deploy the regional import strategy, priorities, and goals to drive high achievement within the GTM function and alignment to the global strategy set by the VP GTM. • Monitor tariff and regulatory changes while defining the impact and developing mitigation programs. • Manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals to develop and deploy world class compliance programs across the businesses and region. • Develop and direct uniform standards, policies and procedures for the region and support global internal controls across businesses and functions. • Collaborate with supply chain and legal teams to evaluate and implement tariff classification adjustments, country shifts or supply chain routing changes to mitigate enterprise risks. • Personally drive and directly influence a culture of compliance within business leadership through consistent and professional communication and actions. • Serve as technical resource to Eaton businesses; interpret relevant customs regulations and provide guidance to the businesses accordingly. • Oversee the management of the ACE account and ISA program including the Annual Notification Letter (ANL) submission. • Conduct and oversee risk assessments and train GTM staff on the risk assessment process. • Develop and deliver relevant training and training schedules through a variety of formats. • Manage key Eaton-wide import processes such as import valuation corrections through reconciliation and customs brokerage management. • Assist with the investigation of suspected violations of trade compliance laws or related company policies, preparation of disclosures, when applicable, and development and testing of corrective actions. • Develop clear understanding of various Eaton disciplines (Tax, Legal, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics) and operational disciplines as they relate to international import activities and trading. • Prepare and delivery executive-level reporting on trade compliance KPI’s, duty spend, tariff impact, risk assessments, etc. • Provide support to integrate acquired companies into the GTM Program. **Qualifications:** **Basic (Required) Qualifications:** • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in global trade regulations. • Minimum three (3) years of manager of people experience. • Experience working on Sections 232 and 301 and IEEPA tariffs. • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. **Preferred Qualifications:** • Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with businesses, and to assist businesses in implementing those improvements. • Ability to interpret government regulations and policies and translate into strategic impact on company goals. • Strong writing, speaking, and presenting skills at all levels of the organization in order to influence and drive results. • Import experience with emphasis on 19CFR. • Experience with SAP GTS or other global trade management systems. • Direct involvement in managing responses to changing tariff regimes (e.g. IEEPA tariffs, Section 232 tariffs, Section 301 tariffs, product exclusions, exemptions, and allowances) • Experience working with Mexico and Canada trade programs. • Data analytics experience to identify abnormalities and compliance gaps in government declarations. • Experience in drafting formal correspondence with government agencies. • Knowledge of audit and assessment procedures and evaluation of internal controls. • Certifications such as Customs Brokerage License or participation in trade/government advisory groups. **Eaton Leaderships Attributes:** • Think and Act Strategically, Build Organizational Capability, Get Results and Enable a Digital Mindset across Eaton. • Is passionate, accountable, efficient, ethical, transparent, and focused on continuous learning. • We foster an environment of engagement and inclusion for all employees and act with advocacy, empathy, and accountability. The expected annual salary range for this role is $141000.03 - $206800.04 a year.
