The Role:

Our ADAS Compute hardware team is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technologies like Super Cruise Hands-Free Automated Driving that enhance vehicle safety, performance, and autonomy.
As we move to in-sourcing hardware design we are building a hardware engineering team that will own the end-to-end design and development of our ADAS Compute hardware.
In this role, the Senior Hardware Design Engineer – ADAS Compute will be responsible for the technical design & development of the new ADAS Compute hardware platform for GM’s next generation vehicles. The role requires an experienced professional with a background in automotive ECU architecture, design, and analysis, and a proven ability of successfully launching ADAS Compute hardware into production.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background and a proven track record in electrical schematic design.
What You’ll do:
Design of ADAS Compute electrical hardware: from SoC/key component selection, schematic capture, worst case analysis, PCB layout, bring-up, debug, signal integrity and power integrity (SI/PI), design verification test (environmental and EMC), to manufacturing support and production launchDesign and development of the ADAS Compute hardware platform (from concept design to launch) while meeting cost, timing, quality, and safety targetsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, such as software, mechanical, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of the electrical design of the ADAS Compute hardwareWork closely with contract manufacturing partners to ensure successful product build, from prototype through to mass production, while maintaining quality, cost, and timing targetsElectrical schematic design and PCB layoutSupport new IC design/development strategic to new ADAS Compute designs and architecturesPerform/support detailed hardware analysis – worst case analysis, signal integrity, power integrity, etc.Execute bring-up of hardware design from power supplies, SoCs, MCUs, SerDes interfaces, network devices, etc.Lead design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for testing (DFT)Drive the validation and testing of hardware components and systems, ensuring high levels of reliability and performanceEstablish test plans and protocols to validate designs against requirements.Troubleshoot hardware issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop solutions to resolve design problemsSupport manufacturing partners in troubleshooting and resolving any production-related issues that arise during the manufacturing processConduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure optimal solutionsLead/support DFMEA/PFMEA of ADAS Compute; ensure lessons learned and best practices are includedProvide guidance and consultation to Design Release Engineers (DREs)

Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer Engineering or equivalent. Masters degree preferred5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, with a strong focus on ADAS hardware design and automotive hardware electronics designProven ability of successfully launching ADAS Compute build-to-print hardware into productionExperience in designing ADAS Compute hardware and components, such as SoCs, MCUs, PCIe, DDR, UFS, eMMC, GMSL, FPD-Link, Ethernet Switches, PHY, CAN, power supply design, etc.Strong proficiency in circuit design, schematic creation, PCB layout, signal integrity and power integrity, and power management.Experience in design & analysis tools like: Mentor Graphics (schematic & layout), Ansys (signal integrity), Simplis (power integrity), Altair (EMC), Mathcad, PSpice & SaberIn-depth knowledge of requirements engineering process (FMEA, Preliminary Hazard Analyses)In-depth knowledge of verification and validation processesIn-depth knowledge of embedded software development, testing and associated toolsUnderstanding of hardware design and failure modeThorough knowledge of design development and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures.Knowledge of automotive industry standards (ISO 26262, ASIL) and safety-critical design principlesExperience with system-level integration, including interfacing with sensors, processors, and communication protocolsExperience with design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for testing (DFT)Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Proven ability to lead complex projects and work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
