Your New Role...This position is the department’s software engineering Subject Matter Expert, leveraging an in-depth knowledge of computer programming, Vizrt and connected technologies to greatly enhance the capabilities of our template driven products. You will be the lead voice in tailoring powerful Viz software solutions to the needs of CNN Design. This role provides quick turnaround time for troubleshooting, often eliminating the need for support from other engineering groups and/or vizrt.
Your Role Accountabilities...The Sr. Graphics Software Engineer enables the design team to develop highly complex templates to aid in graphic storytelling and bespoke advertising products. The Sr Graphics Software engineer will lead projects, analyze and recommending improvements for the existing products to create workflow efficiencies.This position leads the CNN Design software engineering efforts and regularly partners with internal engineers on major network initiatives. Represent CNN Design in small to large, company-wide technical projects, and make recommendations to senior CNN Design leadership in support of these initiatives. Support Graphics department, Engineering groups, control room staff, and newsroom staff with vizrt-related issues.Responsible for prototyping efforts on new technology, ensuring that software components are robustly designed, programmed, tested, debugged and verified for deployment into the newsroom. Proactively advance and update technologies and techniques across all vizrt platforms. Recommends and makes improvements on vizRt system procedures.Create custom scripting solutions to aid graphic designers with complex problems.
Your Qualifications & Experience...7+ years of experience in graphics or engineering field3 to 5 years - expert level knowledge of vizrtBachelor of computer science from accredited college or university preferred or equivalent work experienceAbility to write custom applications in Python and C#, while using VBScript to interface various data sources within vizrt products. Oracle database and SQL experience; Back-end development experienceAbility to determine technical requirements by analyzing user needsAbility to work under pressure, and deliver projects on time is critical; must be highly organized; ability to solve problems. Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and build upon existing software.Team player with attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience prioritizing/managing expectations with clients under extremely tight deadlinesExperience working with IT/Engineering to make sure all custom software is integrated and supported successfully.Experience in a broadcast environment. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
