We’re recruiting two Senior Financial Officers to support the Head of Finance in delivering strategic financial insights across a R130 billion balance sheet and contributing to over R1.5 billion in headline earnings annually.
These roles offer exposure to budgeting, forecasting, flash reporting, audit, and strategic financial analysis. You’ll work closely with Group Finance, PPB Central Finance, and Technical Accounting teams, gaining deep insights into banking finance and secured lending products.
This is a launchpad for newly qualified CA(SA) looking to build a career in banking finance, within a collaborative, empowering team culture that values mentorship, continuous learning, and hands-on delivery.
Job PurposeTo support the MFC Head of Finance and broader PPB Finance team in delivering accurate, insightful, and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Each SFO will own a distinct focus area—Balance Sheet & NII or Income Statement & NIR/Opex—while collaborating closely to drive excellence.
Job ResponsibilitiesRole 1 – Balance Sheet & Net Interest Income (NII)
Prepare and manage the full Balance Sheet and NII budget and flash reporting Capture and reconcile NII, impairments, and FTP rates on HANA (Nedbank’s Budget Capturing System) Prepare NII reasonability templates and waterfalls Engage with stakeholders on funding assumptions, pricing models, and audit Maintain reconciliations and support audit readinessRole 2 – Income Statement, Non-Interest Revenue (NIR) & Opex
Own the Income Statement including NIR, Opex, and Indirect Tax Prepare and review budgets, flash reports, and monthly commentary Manage R200m+ in expenses and oversee VAT, JV reporting, and VAPS entries Collaborate with business units and Group Finance on financial insights Support audit and compliance processes
Shared Responsibilities
Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives Participate in MFC Business Reviews and strategic finance discussions Engage with external auditors and ensure compliance with IFRS and internal controls Essential Qualifications - NQF Level Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree Essential Qualification CA(SA) Minimum Experience Level Newly qualified or up to 1 year post-articles Experience auditing listed clients or financial institutions preferred Type of Exposure Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling Flash reporting and variance analysis Stakeholder engagement and commentary preparation Reconciliations and audit support Use of financial systems (e.g., SAP HANA) Technical / Professional Knowledge IFRS principles Banking finance and secured lending Advanced Excel Financial reporting systems Business acumen and analytical thinking DisclaimerPreference will be given to candidates from the underrepresented groups
