Senior Financial Analyst - Credit Analysis

Position Summary

Objectives include applying the company's procedures and credit policies to allow for profitable sales while protecting the company's significant investment in accounts receivable. Takes the lead role in assisting the MPLX Credit Risk Director in providing essential information relating to current credit exposures and requests for analysis. Performs in depth reviews of customers’ financial information and oversees collateral and security processes.  Establishes and promotes open communication between the trading and operational process owners, counterparties, and the Credit Department. Performs independently and works with other operational areas and analysts.

Key Responsibilities

Fully competent, experienced professional; able to carry out range of professional duties and acts as subject matter expert within their field. Identifies financial risks and collaborates on strategies to mitigate them.Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions to Treasury process and technology[1]related challenges. Identifies business process improvement opportunities and contributes to the development of best practices.Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations while acting as a resource for financial analysts with less experience.Collects and analyzes data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decisions.Actively seeks and implements ways to enhance processes, systems, or automation to provide more time for in-depth analysis and commentary. May lead Treasury projects or participate in Treasury aspects within a cross organizational project.Develops strong relationships with key business partners.Monitors and/or develops KPIs to proactively identify and communicate financial and business risks to internal and external business partners.Performs financial analysis of counterparties and provides recommendations to management regarding risk mitigation needs and options.Lead efforts in identifying and incorporating relevant trends affecting counterparties and overall industry into department’s credit analysis.Navigate and successfully complete collateral negotiations, including parent guaranty forms of security.Collaborate with business development department on financial risks identified and effectively manage external credit relationships with customers.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.Six (6) years in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Prior credit analysis is highly preferred.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to senior leadership and external stakeholders.​

Skills

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong abilities to resolve issues effectively, clearly convey decisions and thinking, and distill complex information into succinct summary form are required.

Travel

Primarily working in an office environment, limited travel may be required to field offices / locations.
