How will you make an impact in this role?

As part of Controllership organization, The U.S. Regulatory Reporting team delivers Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in accordance with both U.S. Federal and State regulators for American Express Company and its underlying subsidiaries.

As American Express transitions to a higher bank category (Cat 3/2), it leads to an uptick in regulatory scrutiny and increased regulatory expectations. As a result we are forming a centralized Exam and Review Preparedness team to meet those heightened standards. The scope will include both external exams (i.e. FRB, OCC) as well as internal reviews (i.e. Quality Assurance, 2LOD, Internal Audits). This role will be part of the new team.

 Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Support design, governance, and establishment of the Exam Review and Preparedness team Conduct exam/review readiness assessments for impacted areas prior to the start of regulatory exams/reviews to identify potential gaps and solutions. Anticipate possible examiner questions and suggested responses and develop internal training materials and external storyboard materials. Review exam documentation requests, exam meeting materials, First Day letters / review announcements to provide consistency across teams for appropriate responses/submissions. Support tracking and monitoring of requests and meeting materials, schedule exam / review meetings, prepare status updates (presentation material) and capture supporting documentation in a centralized repository. Support the development of management action plans / remediation activities and assist in the closure of MRA’s / MRIA’s. Collaborate with colleagues across groups within American Express to drive consistency in exam preparedness and management Contribute to driving continuous process improvements, increase level of automation, strengthen controls, and enhance process documentation. Flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years of experience in Accounting / Reporting / Auditing. Strong understanding of U.S. Regulatory and U.S. GAAP requirements. Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive projects, and work well under tight deadlines. Strong written/oral communication, relationship building, presentation and collaboration skills. Proven ability to effectively interact with all levels and stakeholders of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Regulatory/External Reporting and banking/financial services experience preferred. Prior experience assisting with the preparation of regulatory reports, such as the FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031 Call Report, FR 2052a preferred. Prior experience assisting with regulatory exams preferred. Graduate degree, CPA/Chartered Accountant, or similar qualification, preferred.
