Find your place in finance on #TeamAmex. **How will you make an impact in this role?** The SEC Reporting team prepares external quarterly and annual financial reports for American Express Company and certain US GAAP subsidiaries. In particular we prepare the Company’s SEC filings, including the Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, and Form 11-K and play an active role ensuring the accuracy of all financial information distributed in connection with the Company's quarterly earnings release. We perform independent processes to prepare, review and analyze financial information with a key focus on control and compliance. We work extensively with our own market financial controllers, subject matter experts, segment controllers, consolidations, General Counsel’s Office, Investor Relations, Corporate Affairs & Communications, Corporate Planning, and external auditors. The team is committed to talent development, work / life balance, and timely recognition of team members’ contributions to the success of shared SEC Reporting and External Reporting goals and objectives. **Responsibilities within the SEC Reporting – Earnings & Analysis team include:** + Partnering with Investor Relations to support the quarterly earnings release process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data provided to our external community, including materials for our annual Investor Day + Supporting External Reporting senior leadership with monthly CFO Management Reporting results analysis by researching/understanding trends, year-over-year variance analysis and other related inquires + Support the SEC 10-Q/10-K reporting team with review of AXP’s quarterly and annual SEC filings + Support the preparation of AXP’s Retirement Plan and Retirement Savings Plan financial statements + Ensure compliance with all internal controls around external reporting and coordinate required documentation as necessary (e.g. spreadsheet controls, tie-out packages, etc.) + Support various projects aimed at improving processes, efficiency, and external reporting enhancements + Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key business partners including but not limited to: Investor Relations, GCO, Treasury, Corporate Affairs & Communications, Corporate Planning, Segment/Market Controllers, other Global Reporting teams and other SME’s **Minimum Qualifications** + Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance + 2-5 years professional experience in Accounting/Finance + Demonstrates strong analytical and critical thinking skills + Experience with financial reporting tools/systems a plus - Oracle Essbase/HFR/SmartView and TM1 + Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) + Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills + Must be a proactive and motivated self-starter **Preferred Qualifications** + MBA/CPA + Prior External Reporting and/or public accounting experience **Qualifications** Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.
