Senior Financial Analyst

Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting our Education Solutions team by providing value-added financial planning, forecasting, operational analysis, and other ad-hoc analysis to enhance decision making.  The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and complying with accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of efficiency while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with US GAAP.  The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for building complex forecasting models for organic growth and acquisitions, participate in the month-end close process, help create journal entries, prepare and review revenue recognition entries, and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, including sub ledger to ledger reconciliations and account reconciliations.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze financial status by collecting, monitoring, and studying data from various platforms compared to plans, forecasts, and prior year results

Research, analyze, and report on financial and accounting inquiries for the division

Routine communication with Manager relating to financial close, budgeting/forecasting, issues and deliverables

Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations on a monthly basis

Prepare and analyze the periodic management reporting of financial results for the division

Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, recommending actions to management

Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data

Maintain dataset of results and key performance indicators by entering, verifying and backing up data, ensuring the highest level of data integrity

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required

Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial performance management, analysis and decision support

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, generate alternatives and clearly communicate findings to drive positive change

Ability to grasp understanding of business models and key drivers quickly and independently

Demonstrated ability to make effective presentations

Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and personnel

Demonstrated proficiency with expert Excel; Hyperion EPBCS and/or Oracle ERP system experience preferred

Demonstrated organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize assignments and work effectively under time constraints

Thorough knowledge and understanding of US GAAP

Superior analytical and problem solving skills

Proven record of financial planning and strategy decisions

Must be able to meet deadlines and deliver timely and accurate results

Thorough planning and organization skills with great attention to detail

Ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on environment

Ability to succeed in a team environment and perform cross-functional duties as required.

Understanding of accounting processes, procedures and internal controls

Strong research and analysis skills

Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently

Ability to manage competing priorities
