**Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):**
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Administrative experience. Customer service experience. Microsoft and/or Google proficiency.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Higher Education or a related field. Student services experience. Experience in financial aids and/or student accounts. Experience advising students and/or families. PeopleSoft experience. Data management/analytics experience. Presentation experience.
**Brief Description of Duties:**
The Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is a public medical school. The program provides medical students with a uniquely diverse patient population for training to provide medical care in an increasingly global society.
Renaissance School of Medicine is part of Stony Brook Medicine, the University’s medical enterprise, which encompasses Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and the Long Island State Veterans Home, plus more than 100 outpatient care sites throughout Suffolk County. It is one of five schools of the Health Sciences at Stony Brook University, which also include Dental Medicine, Health Professions, Nursing and Social Welfare.
The primary function of this position is to provide direct customer service and advisement to RSOM students and their families regarding financial aid application, eligibility, awards, processes, guidelines, and standards. This entails both in-person, telephone, and e-mail advisement, as a result strong communication skills and attention to detail is required. The essential duty is the administration of federal, state and private financial aid programs for Renaissance School of Medicine. Award and manage disbursement of over $25,000,000 in federal, state and private financial aid for the MD students at the Renaissance School of Medicine. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. They will multi-task and provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment and maintain the ability to remain calm and problem solve. Essential for this role is the adeptness in working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

**Financial Aid Awarding-Processing**
● Draft RSOM Financial Aid Application; communicate application process and information required to be awarded federal, state and institutional aid.
● Determine cost of attendance (educational and living expenses) for MD students in the traditional 4-year track and the 3YMD track.
● Determine federal, state and private financial aid eligibility based on federal needs analysis methodology. Award federal loans and institutional grants to eligible students.
● Review applications for RSOM Endowed Scholarships with RSOM Scholarship Committee made up of RSOM faculty members and members of UGME.
● Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress of students at risk of financial aid ineligibility
● Partner with SBU Offices of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services to assure accurate posting, processing and disbursement of loans, grants and scholarships.
● Communicate federal regulatory updates to students. These include changes to interest rates; loan fees, loan repayment, deferment and forbearance options, and loan forgiveness options.
● RSOM point of contact for University offices of Financial Aid and Student Financial Services
**Debt Management**
● Develop Financial Planning/Debt Management curriculum for RSOM students; including Entrance and Exit presentations.
● Partner with AAMC/FIRST team and independent Financial Planners for in-person and remote presentations.
● Counsel RSOM students on financial aid, budgeting and debt management
**Reporting**
● RSOM point of contact for annual LCME Part 1-B Financial Aid Summary Report.
● Compile data and provide financial aid information as needed by the AAMC/LCME for accreditation review.
**Other**
● Supervise 20 medical students employed under the Federal Work Study Program
● Train staff on PeopleSoft updates as needed
● Update FA information on RSOM website as needed.
● Conduct periodic FA presentations to undergraduates and high school students
● Other duties as assigned.
**Special Notes:**
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
