We are now seeking an Senior Financial Accountant to join the Regional Finance Business Services team, based on our North Sydney Office.
ABOUT THE ROLE
After years of finance transformation journey, Finance Business Services has transformed from transactional handling to a strategic focus on exceptional service and value creation across APAC markets. As we continue to build on our virtual competencies model, we will provide core accounting and reporting functions, along with valuable insights to meet business needs.
The Senior Financial Accountant will play a crucial role in the month-end closing process of Australia and New Zealand. This position will support the Manager in Financial Accounting & Reporting, ensuring quality service and specializing in key financial closing activities.
WHAT IMPACT YOU CAN CREATE AT CHANEL
Through your expertise, you will support the business on operational and internal control activities, which include but not limited to physical asset audit & disposal of assets, review of leases, bank guarantee and creation of lease-related POs, arrangement and performing local stock count, cycle count review, etc.

WHAT WILL YOU DO
Accountable for financial closing tasks on certain financial activities/tasks such as fixed assets, lease accounting, inventory, bank reconciliation, etc as assigned by the Manager.
Assist Manager on month-end closing, such as adjustment journals, depreciation journals, reclass the entries, etc.), balance sheet breakdown preparation and global reporting submission and other daily operation matter.
Support Manager in statutory compliance tasks, which include statutory account preparation, FBT preparation and analysis, Fixed Assets registers for both Tax and Accounting etc.
Handle local specific procedures to comply with local regulatory requirements
Demonstrate understanding in the definition, hierarchy, maintenance and updates of CHANEL’s Chart of Accounts
Practice CHANEL’s internal controls (manual and automated) at transactional level
Escalate inappropriate behaviour / activities (e.g. professional / ethical misconduct, non-compliance with policies), if discovered.
Use system outputs to meet basic job requirements and apply basic tests for reasonability and accuracy
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline. CPA or working towards your CPA is also required.
Membership of professional accounting bodies (e.g. ACCA or equivalent professional bodies) is highly regarded,
Several years working experience, across a range of business types with some experience across retail preferred
Solid expertise / operational know-how of month end closing processes and understanding of market specificities
Experience in operational know-how of all other finance processes are an advantage
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly convey facts and information clearly and accurately.
The ability to build successful relationships across the organization through collaboration, consensus building and interpersonal effectiveness.
